A bit of Maiden worship from Brazil. The guy's voice doesn't really sound like Bruce but holy shit the solos and the music sounds like Maiden around Fear of the Dark or thereabout,

They were/are a one album wonder but that album isn't too bad. It's Maiden worship without being a carbon copy, kind of like Mechanix first album was what RIP II could have been. But Mechanix's second album stood up by itself. If Overllord ever release something else it could be worth a listen.

I liked the music, but I'm not so sure about his vocals. They aren't bad. But it just makes me want the real thing.

Yeah the vocals need work. He either needs to say fuck it, scream like Bruce and wear the comparison, or because the music does sound like old Maiden he needs to move away and create his own voice.

The vocal phrasing is very Bruce as well. But not quite at the level it would need to be.

They also need to figure out what there is an extra L in the band name
(or maybe it's some local language and I need to figure it out!)

WOW what's with Chuck's hairdo??
I know there is plenty out there who don't particularly like this era or album but I still reckon it was a time of excellence for Anthrax. They were only one album wonders with John but it's still one of the best they've done

Yeah. I think he was still trying to have long hair but couldn't tame that fro unless he did a a rat tail and shaved half of it?
They sound really good.
Almost seems like corporate saw Scott and told the camera guy to shoot Frank as much as they could lol.

Frankie really looked like he was having fun on that stage, but then he usually does look like that
Even Got The Time sounded pretty good at that time.
I know there has been talk lately about what could have been in John took up the job singing for Metallica but comparing Metallica songs to SOWN I think he was way better suited to SOWN than Metallica. He kicked arse on that first album.

Yeah his background vocals sounded really great too.
I don't think I've ever heard the whole album. But I agree with you just from what I have heard. I meant to get it like a year after it came out because I was still pissed about Joey. But I got Stomp 442 first and it soured me on the whole thing. That album is not very good.

Yeah nothing they did after SOWN was worth it. I think if they'd kept making music like on SOWN they wouldn't have faded out like they did. I know some fans blamed John for the fade out but I think it had more to do with Charlie and Scott writing for an audience that wasn't there. Joey's done such an amazing job for Anthrax and it's good to have him back but John did a great job soured by the shit that came with and after Stomp.

Oh I don't think it was John at all. I fully blame the writers. The music was just plain week. There's only so much a vocalist can do with that shit.

I couldn't be bothered looking to see if John had any writing credits before I laid blame with solely with Scott and Charlie

The thing is even if they accepted that John was not Joey, they could easily have written Stomp and other albums to suit John's singing style and still made it metal, but they wrote it in the hope of getting more exposure from the mainstream market and it didn't work. John's work with AS proves he's got plenty of power and energy to sing metal, but they didn't give him any.
