Classics Reborn

Well..I mean that's just kind of a fact isn't it? Didn't stop him with VH lol

I haven't seen him for a while so I'm not even sure how fit the guy is. I reckon it would be hard for a guy like him to admit he's too old to be who he was.

I hope so. But the stories of lost masters and things like that that I always hear makes me think if it is archived it's not by the industry.

I understand things like fires etc destroy archival stuff but to not save stuff just seems strange to me. We work on and off with the power and health and safety industry here making training videos and short docos for internal promotion and the archival footage we have at our disposal spans about 100 years. A lot of it is protected as historical information and it's obviously a different industry but to me not keeping all the stuff just seems to go against common sense.

I think all the people shuffling those companies did is what much of the problem is. The people they would typically bring in were of the out with the old in with the new mentality.

The thing that makes disappearing masters etc harder to believe is the amount of "previously unreleased" songs and albums we are getting these days.

I can only think of Santcuary? and as I understand it it was in bad shape. I know Flotsam sights it as the reason NPFD wasn't remastered but re recorded. They said no one had any idea where it was, it was just gone. But that's just one instance I can recall right now.
And the big bands are probably excluded as lost comes with quotations. More like saved.

There is a new Jimi Hendrix song, or album. Elvis has released more 'new' songs since he died than before he died. Led Zepp are talking about new material found in the someone's garage (or somewhere). The reason do seem to be more varied than simply suggesting the masters were lost but every few years there seems to be a popular band or artist from the past releasing something new that no one has heard before.

Thrash doesn't have all the dead and forgotten musos yet :)

I'm not saying it will happen but I wouldn't be surprised to see a band like Anthrax or Metallica come out in 10 years time saying they have lost footage, or lost recordings that they want to sell as a 'collectors edition'.

Damn 1988 must have been a busy year, I've got 20 out of 23 of the albums listed here.
Yeah I have a bunch too. Did you see how much State Of Euphoria was going for? Scott's gonna be pissed lol
They also price Death Leprosy at $20 something. I just got it from the Relapse site for $12. And Flotsam's No Place for Disgrace. I kid you not I was just on amazon yesterday for $15000. And now they are saying $9.49? Something doesn't jive.

Scott will be ok, in this country the cheapest I can find SOE for on advertised prices is $18.

$15000 seems a bit excessive even for a collectable. I know some 2nd and 3rd tier sellers increase the price of an item to a stupid price to stop people buying it when it's out of stock. That's what I would think if I saw a cd for that kind of price.

A few local shops claim NPFD is available in stock or able to be ordered, even Amazon Australia lists it as new and available for shipping. From what I can see it's a 2014 release through Metal Blade, whereas the link on that MI page for Amazon US is 1988 and I can't see a label so I assume it's the original pressing.

So do you think that the 2014 is the re recorded version? I remember them talking saying that one of the other reasons for the re recorded version was that the original had been out of print and people were telling them it couldn't be found. So I'm just surprised it's popping up.

It's no wonder Tom needed neck surgery when you see how violently he does his head banging and considering that video is 24 years old he'd been doing it a long time before he needed surgery.

Kerry's pants really add to the tough bald man look :)
