So I'm giving Dee's new album a preview in the interest of being nice to old people!
The opening track Lies Are a Business really does set the album up for something it's not. It's a good song, a bit of speed, a bit of aggression and it really rocks along. But the rest of the album not so much. There is plenty of aggression on the album (maybe it's Charlie Benate's missing aggression) but the songs don't always suit the aggression of the vocals. I suppose given what he's spent his career doing we shouldn't expect a thrash record and overall it's probably a bit heavier than Twisted Sister could ever have come up with. It does move along with songs that don't appear to drag out and Dee's voice doesn't seem to falter too much, the drums are powerful on some tracks and the guitars aren't too bad. Given that it was never going to be a trash album I would call it a solid metal release beyond what he might have once done but not excellent.
