Well dude...can you say hi to Whong Mang for me before you go? C'mon man, We're just playin around. No need to get butt-hurt over it. I have access to a 5150 and I own a Warhead and an RH200g2 Randall head. If I had a Boogie I would be more than happy to fulfill your outlandish request just so you would shut up already... oops i did it again. I must pe bipolar...

Remember the power of soy, Whong.

Thanks a lot guys, 2 pages, no clips, whatever. I didn't expect this forum to be like this, but I guess it's common on all forums. I just wanted some clips, since I've never heard a Recto playing metal. That was all, and also to compare the gain or whatever. I guess I should do it myself when I go to the states. Thanks a lot.
i've tried to stay out of this, but i just can't anymore...DURBANS, what everyone, including Andy, has been trying to get across to you is that comparing a recto head to a 5150 based on a similar "knob setting" is NOT an accurate way to judge how much gain the Recto has... because the two amps work differently, and the actual gain potentiometers themselves are almost certainly rated differently... these points make comparing each at exactly "6" a completely useless exercise. such a comparison would serve absolutely no purpose and would not be demonstrative of ANYTHING except what a Recto sounds like at "6"... that's it, other factors such as guitar, pickups, cab, mic, etc. not withstading.

to make an anology, what if i asked you to compare the sound of each guitar based on how long it would take to string and tune a Les Paul as a opposed to a Stratocaster? pointless to prove anything other than which one's machine heads had the higher gear ratio.... don't you see?

by dogmatically sticking to your guns on this "both knobs on 6" comparison, even after the faultiness of that logic has been pointed out to you several times by both the members and subject of this forum, you have basically been begging for the jabs you have been taking over this.

why can't you ask for a more useful, logical, and meaningful example that would actually serve to show you what you want to know: a metal guitar clip made with a Recto head. full stop.

He still ain't gonna get it, James. I hope he doesn't decide to buy a Boogie, I think he's too stupid to use it.

hey, hey, hey... no need to go there. Durbans, please do not take my post as a personal attack on you.. i'm genuinely trying to help you underdstand where the logic of your request was flawed. if you still don't get it, at least i tried.

Here's a sample a friend of mine recorded a few time ago (he doesn't remember settings), but it's 2 amps blended -> Soldano SP77 + Marshall 20:20 and a Triple Recto. It's not really metal, but it can be told as being close to that. Both had a Tubescreamer 9, btw.

yeah while we can all have a bit of a laugh at each others expense on here, thats cool, if someones getting upset about things, don't push it, it's not fair. It doesn't translate sometimes. I think enoughs been said on this topic, the reason no posts have contained clips is because the exercise is so futile it's not worth the time and effort to do it. I will happily post some clips of both amps with the tone DIALED IN sometime in the nearish future.

If I remember correctly, you're relatively new around here as well, so if you don't have a 5150 and/or a recto, why are you posting this chitchat as that wont help durbans in anyway? this my-dick-is-bigger-than-thou type of discussions lately kill the spirit of this forum and the efforts of those who actually try to help
It is all in fun mate. :)

Yes I am 'the new guy'. Go ahead, make fun of me too :D

Hey Durbans,

I think you would already have the clips if it was possible, even if for most people it doesn't make sense, but I guess not a lot of people here do have a 5150 and a rectifier at home anyway (probably Andy's the only one to have them both, but believe me, he's more than over-occupied to do this...). This forum is really a nice place where you can learn a lot of things, fulled with nice people who always try their best to help each other (some of them may be easy to get upset :loco: ), but keep in mind that you must not ask for the moon :dopey:.

Cheers

Thanks James and Andy. I got your point, I'm a little stubborn myself and I didn't want to get it in the beginning. Maybe it was really stupid for me to ask, perhaps all I wanted was to hear how the Recto sounded at 6, just to know for some stupid curiosity or whatever.

Anyway, you're right, what I need is a metal riff being played on each amp, and see how the Recto sounds a/b'd with the 5150 which is my reference amp. But, just for a better environment, I'd like to have the 5150 at the gain I usually play it on.

Thanks for your pacience, or lack of it or for those who like to think I'm stupid.

Maybe the gain's not on 6 but take a peek here:

It's a topic started by Matt Smith, he's one of the regulars here, so you can ask him there what settings he used on each amp.

i feel that same way...i share the same problem as drubans
here in brazil we can GET some mesas, 5150´s, marshalls, and fender BUT...
there aren´t many ofthose amps to be played... and the ones that are avaliable in the shops, the sellers do whatever toNOT let you buyit UNLESS you show the cash. and here´s the question "how can we buy without test?"
the selles think that you will just play it for fun, no buy inteended ...
thats bullshit
i,my self never played a tube amp.
Q:/
the closest to it is a marshall valvestate amp. crate gxt , and fender roc pro.
i´m Almost a Joke.
