Clipping Converters

i used the api to boost the level and get a bit of iron and i guess some form of crude summing,
Mentions it in the chandler tg2 manual, thought i try it...

Sounds pretty great to me. I've read a few posts from gents on gearslutz trying such a thing with using different preamps and getting different sounds but then again, it is gearslutz. You can never tell with that fermenting pool of bullshit of a forum. Greyskull, I do hear the truth in what you speak. Thanks for taking the effort to post those clips.

no worries gents..
keep listening , try it youself, and keep the comments coming!
im sure lasse is much beter equiped to do it with the soft limit on the apogee!

ah, I see...you're still clipping the converter AFTER the API...I got that one wrong ;)

I'm usually doing a similar thing, I've got the Smart C2 to get the "iron" and sometimes boost the output of that into the apogee softclip.

I like the OTB api sounds very full and lots of punch! Ive got an 002 with the black lion clock mods, wonder how that would sound being clipped? Once i get my room done I'll give it a shot.

does anyone here have any experience with the Lavry Black's? There seems to be so much talk bout it being one step up from Apogee.

Yup. I got a lavry DA 10 which I use for monitoring. I really like, the stereo imaging is excellent. I find it slightly dark on the top, bottom en is quite non flattering. I think it's a pretty non flattering unit, which is good for what I do. I have not tried the the AD10, but I got the 4496 blue ADDA and it;s really good. I think Appogee might be a bit better for metal a is it has more of a hyped to and bottom... border line is that the source is the key.
