8 extra inputs of inferior quality is better than no inputs. You can use them for stuff like triggers or something where the sound quality doesn't matter that much. If you are so afraid of Behringer name, you can get something like Presonus Digimax, Focusrite Octopre or Audient ASP008 instead

Yeah, I'll have to look into picking up a decent ADAT multi pre/convertor at some point.
On another note, the A2D is working perfectly. I ended up using the extra inputs for a pair of ribbons in blumlein config. Snare height, roughly 8 feet back. Sounds bitchin!
