listen to the drum rolls before the intro breakdown

listen to how their so fast clicking and up in your face

my toms sound are sounding kind of soft compared to that
is it compression that the guy is doing? or is it clipping?

and if someone recommends gclip, what good alternative is there for mac for pro tools 8?

thanks for your time.

k guess not
thanks anyway

i didnt ask if anyone liked the song
people like what they like

i just wanted to know how to get the drums to sound similar in the senses of compression ect.

Am I the only one who watched the whole vid to spot hot scene girls?

Nothing interesting. Anyways, I can't imagine clipping sound good on toms, definitely some compression. Good heads is a good start to a good tom sound.

i did try toms at 100% but it resonates too much
so, i used a strong compression setting
and infront of that
i gated the affected toms a little bit
and i automated the gate plug so it wont effect single tom hits

I'm going to apologise in advance for contributing nothing to this thread but that band are fucking shit. Seriously fucking shit.

I would love to know the same thing dude. I can't get my toms to sound like this either with 100% replacement, compressing the shit out of them makes them louder but causes all sorts of problems with resonating frequencies.

alright true
fuck this

i already figured what i needed to do anyway

This is what gets to me.. someone looks for help, then gets an answer and doesnt fuckin share it.. utter waste of a thread.. the only person who gained from it was you.

We're a damn community man.. share it and yeah that is a huge pile of shit in the face of talent right there..utter cake tard

No one here helped him get his answer in any way.

People were too busy telling him how much that band sucks.
If I started a thread, and got that kind of unhelpful responses, I would feel in no way obligated to share my findings.

To the OP:

I've come damn near close to this tom sound.

Basically what I did was:

Slate Fat Tom samples (100%)

ReaComp compressor settings:

Threshold - (-15)
Attack - (14ms)
Release - (75ms) (This reduces some of the resonance issues, I feel.)
Ratio: (4:1)

Waves TransX Multi
ReaEQ - Boost at 400Hz, Cut some of the mids, Boost around 3K

Hopes this helps!

OH, and crank the toms up.

Edit: And while the tom drum tone may not match, the attack and "in your face" is definitely there.

dude
are you kidding me?

1. whenever i share my information with people
other people say im wrong, or diss it, neglect it

why would i want to share the answer with people who arent even interested in the topic, they just care about talking shit about a band, saying their REALLY shit, when in reality

their not
they obviously did something right
cause they progressed since the last time i saw their myspace
if someone doesnt like a band
Fine
i hate lotza bands

but doesnt mean they suck

and you got the balls to say me not sharing the info makes this a waste of a thread
but you read the previous users comments and you dont call that a waste?

man...lol
your funny lol

first man, you need some nice tom samples
and the kind of compression i think your doing is incorrect for the application of toms.

your gunna want a decently hard knee
and what kinda compressor are you using?
some compressors give different characteristics.
people talk shit abuot the BF76, that comes with pro tools
but it sounds fuckin great.
ill post my drum tracks tomorow night
and hopefully people will not talk shit about the tones hahahah
just keep toying with it man
make sure theres high attack
a bit of a low threshold
