Is it just me... or around 3:27 seconds into Closure on Damnation... is that basically the same chord structure and loosely the same riff as at the end of the song Deliverance. It's so freaking cool how haunting it sounds... it flashes me back to Deliverance every time. it's the song that ties the two albums together for me.

I never really paid much attention to the chord structure at the end of Deliverance.. im mainly about the whole rhythm thing it tries to do, and I cant really hear that in Closure. Or maybe I just suck. Either one.

It would be my fav if it wasn't for the end. I personally feel it lets down the whole song in a major way. :(

If it had just faded out or something, or just had a last chord or something it would definately be my favourite.

Anyways...one thing I have noticed is how the piano section near the end of To Rid The Disease bears a striking resemblance to the mellotron-y weirdo section of By The Pain I See In Others.

haha... no you don't just suck... i'm just damned to live a life of chord recognition forever... was a music major... all that freaking music theory and ear training has fucked me into hearing all these things about music i don't wanna hear. I'd rather just sit back and say... hey this is cool instead of feeling like i'm having a workout listening to kick ass music. :)

To me, the most amazing thing about this song is the absolutely breathtaking beauty in it's simplicity. The first mini-crescendo, to the soft voice, to the phrase "In the rays of the sun I am longing for darkness", then the magnificant middle eastern flaired outro.

Chills - that's what I get - chills.

Ouch, poor man.. haha there's alot of people that have studied music for their whole lives that just want to forget it all after they've done, because they can't concentrate on the music as a whole, their hearing just dissects it into chords, modes, scales, progressions etc. etc.

Just glad I never did music as a subject :).

This song really has me by the ballz, I love it! To my unfortunate disappointment, however, it ends abruptly. I find this a bit frustrating, as I felt this was one of those that could go for eleven minutes... just has that feel to me.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get stoned off my ass and fill in the blanks myself. Either way it's still bad ass! I'd probably say it's my favorite on the album as of now. "The grove" is what really does the trick, but the bending he does on the guitar with an eastern-culture sound is fucking amazing...

this isn't quite on topic, but it still pertains to the song closure, so bear with me.....does anyone have a version of the song that doesn't sound like it gets cut off at the very end? Does anyone have a copy longer than my 5:15 version? I've been searching for the file on my file sharing service, but no one seems to have anything different. I figured i'd ask here to see if anyone else was as thrown off by it as i was. I really wanna know how it ends.

**edit** somehow the post right above this didn't appear when i was first reading. please excuse.

dude... its perfect... closure, thats what the song is about... what more could you want than a sudden closure for the end? DERRRR

Since deliverence is also part of the topic, it wouldnt be off topic for me to say... i think it sounds like dream theater... that is the first thing i thought of when i heard it... it makes me think of the song "fatal tragedy".. i dunno, maybe i just smoke too much crack, but i was pleased with the songs progresivness.

**edit** its the end of deliverance that reminds me of Dream Theater...
