College Football!!!!

Quarterbacks are crap when they don't have talent around them, I dare you to name a charger wide receiver from the two years Brees was bad. I know there are a lot of reasons the Packers lose but I'm sure most would agree Favre is the best QB of the current generation of QBs and right now, with all his wideouts hurt and no running game, where is he?

yeah, i was pretty shocked when coach walker started playing basanez as a freshman, but the past couple years he's really been pretty amazing. i really like that he's not afraid to run, shovel pass, go long, etc. and has become really effective in doing whatever it takes. it's a shame the highest profile media exposure he's received this year was that michigan game in espn prime time, he's played much better the rest of the year.
about the only thing i've noticed that bugs me is he does seem to try a bit hard to draw penalties- trying to draw attention to late hits, etc. but yeah, playing with a dislocated throwing arm takes guts.

Curtis Conway was not a bad wide receiver. Brees didn't have much last year either, McArdell wasn't there unti december. The main difference is Antonio Gates and even then, with a RB as dominant as Tomlinson, he should have been much better.

I was more trying to communicate that they will treat every year as a fluke and while Carson Palmer gets 3 years to mature in the NFL, one where he doesn't play, Brees had 2 seasons and if Rivers had not held out, Brees never plays again gets traded, then cut and ends up talking about football with us here on the board.

Who wants to put money on Owens calling his next QB, regardless of who he is gay? He did it to Garcia and McNabb.

I am not putting money on anything Owens can say, he is seriously the loudest mouth I have seen. Garcia has a certain feminine side to him but have you seen the girls he hangs out with? The man is most certainly not gay.

I know that Brees has been handed a crappy hand but Palmer was behind a QB that was the only reason that team had any sort of success, hence he got benched for two years. Brees sat for a year too and still was crap for two years. Coaches are enamored by physical gifts, in every player types. That's why Owens has a big contract and Lavar Harrington has one too. But if you ask me, I'd rather have London Fletcher on my team instead of Harrington. The later is a great athlete and a disruptive force but he freelances all the time and never plays inside the system. Fletcher is just as effective, and plays inside the system. Mike Minter vs Roy Williams? Minter. Rob Johnson vs Doug Flutie?

i'm kind of nervous about that ohio state game tomorrow. it's on abc @ 11am, and that's kind of high exposure, so i'm afraid NU will totally blow it and lose by 120 points. plus ohio state is probably out for blood after losing to NU last yr. as if the other 33 yrs in a row before last yr they won weren't enough?

either way, i'm wearing NU apparel today in preparation for the purple colored field rush that will no doubt occur in columbus tomorrow.

Ohio State and Penn State both need to lose. Oh shit, that doesn't matter cuz Penn State has the tie breaker over us anyways. Oh well. Wisconsin v. Iowa just doesn't have the appeal it could have had. I suppose I'll have to watch it anyway seeing as how it's Barry's last home game as well as last big 10 game.

A little late this year. Northwestern won and Buffalo beat Temple and then charged the field. Buffalo and Temple combined for 1 win last year. Big Notre Dame v. Gorgia Tech today. Go GT. I've got a $20 bet that ND will suck this year. Wisconsin plays Bowling Green at 6. Wisconsin has had key injuries already so we'll see how they do this year.

NU game was good. I still can't believe Pat Fitzgerald is head coach. he's like 8 days younger than I am- he was playing when i was in school. most of the Big Ten teams won from what i saw this weekend.

and yeah, i hate Notre Dame. can't believe they were ranked #2. they BARELY managed to squeak by GT 14-10 and should've totally lost. come on, a quarterback with the name Brady Quinn? that's just RichPrettyBoyPansyville.

yeah, couldn't hear the NU game, but the score was telling. man, if i still lived in chicago i'd be at every game. tix for that New Hampshire game were like $10 for 4 on ebay a couple weeks ago. i'll be heading over to the big ten site to check on how the conference did in a minute.

watched some of the OSU/TX game, and half of me wanted the Big Ten to win, but all of me wanted Ohio St to lose. Jim Tremmel just seems cocky as crap, and i can't stand him. Listened to the IL game, which was just bad. i believe they had one 3rd down conversion the whole game? maybe we'll go to the NU/IL game late November, NU might win that one...

So I've been lacking in my college football posting thread. I actually have to work at work now so my posting time has been greatly reduced.

But Wisconsin is getting screwed in the polls. One loss to the number 2 team in the country and ranked what, 17 now? That's crap. Penn State in about 1.5 hours. Hopefully they kick some ass so they can move up to 16 in the rankings.

Go Rutgers! Fucking Respect the State University of New Jersey Motherfuckers! If they beat Louisville this thursday, they will be ranked in the top 5. Could anyone have imagined that 2 years ago?
