Concert DVDs that are really worth the money?

Opethian Metalhead
Just wondering what concert DVDs you people own... and which ones you think were worth the hard-earned money of which you paid for them. I only own a few musical dvds - Opeth: Lamentations, Slayer : War at the Warfield, Lamb of God: Terror and Hubris, Tool : Toology, and Rammstein : Lichtspielhaus.

Opeth and Rammstein were definately worth it.. good concert footage and great sound... and good behind the scenes clips for both - especially Rammstein. Also, the music videos in Rammstein were great, even though their menus were a little hard to navigate. Slayer on the other hand was mediocre... no behind the scenes stuff except for some "Fans Rule" section where they show a bunch of morons chewing beer cans and swearing, and being idiotic in general... Good concert footage though, even though Tom's voice is kind of shot. Lamb of God also mediocre, some good live footage, and some stupid behind the scenes stuff... I basically bought it for the music video for Ruin.

And omg Tool. Tool : Toology is so bad it's not even funny. I was ignorant enough not to notice the "Not officially liscenced by Tool" on the cover... basically the whole DVD is some lameass guy talking about Tool, and a bunch of still images of a Tool concert. Worst of all the DVD is set to music that TRIES to sound "Toolish" but it's nowhere near... and they throw in some animations that try and mimick stuff from Tool's real music videos... but again, it's a bunch of Crap. NEVER ever buy this DVD.... resist those compulsive shopping impulses (like I had at the time), because you'll regret it.

But yeah.. Opeth : Lamentations, and Rammstein : Lichtspeilhaus, must-have if you're a fan of the bands.

Pink Floyd-The Wall in concert.

There were 80,000+ people there, but the downside to the show, was that there was a million celebrity singers there. I wish it was just Roger Waters singing.

I want to buy the Iron Maiden-Rock in Rio DVD. That would kick ass to see.

And Entombed's Monkey Puss-Live in London DVD.

It's probably on DVD now, but I only own the VHS copy of "AD/DC - Stiff Upper Lip Live"... and it's a fucking fantastic show. Being on VHS and all, there's no extra shit other than the show itself, but the show alone is worth the price of this video.

Rush In Rio!!!!!

Also, even though you all will hate me for this, I thoroughly enjoyed Metallica's S&M DVD, I think it's really great with a cool documentary.

I don't like any of the three music DVDs I have very much.

Dream Theater - Metropolis 2000 : Live Scenes From James LaBrie's Horrible Voice
Metallica - S&M
Opeth - Lamentations

I don't ever listen to any of these bands anymore, and the only one I'd still consider myself a fan of is Opeth, but I still think their performance is incredibly boring on the DVD and I've enjoyed them much more in person. The documentary was cool.

So, in my case, the hunt for a good DVD continues...

I own several, but the best ones I have, in my opinion, are:

Vader - More Vision And The Voice
Sepultura - Chaos DVD
Slayer - War At The Warfield
Death - Live In L.A.

Vader's great because the camera work is fuckin awesome, several angles etc. It's a fairly longish concert and there's so much extra stuff.... a bootlegged concert, 3 video clips and an interview with the singer/guitarist.

The Sepultura DVD is 3 of their old VHSs in one. The first is a really awesome live concert in Barcelona (Arise Tour), the second was after Chaos A.D. came out and has a whole bunch of video clips and a few live clips, aswell as a lot of footage of the guys fucking around etc. The third is the worst... 3 video clipls from their "Roots" album. Still pretty good though.

The War at The Warfield DVD is awesome. The concert is great: the filming, the sound, the song selection and everybody's playing is of very, very good standard. It does, as you mentioned, lack in special features. But the "Fans Rule" thing is pretty entertaining. For those who don't know, it's footage of all their fans outside the concert venue and being interviewed etc. It also has the videoclip for "Bloodline" from their "God Hates Us All" album.

Finally, the Death: Live In L.A. DVD has nothing particularly special about it, other than it's Death and the concert is rad. The quality of the video doesn't look all that great, although the filming is OK, it has about 3 or 4 camera angles. The audio sounds like a very good quality bootleg, which isn't too bad. But, there are no special features. The concert makes up for this though, great song selection.

Death - Live In L.A.

In contrast to what the guy above said, I think its simplicity is fantastic. It's a small concert (or it seems it) and it allows greater intimacy, even on the DVD. The concert itself is fantastic. You can never go wrong with a Death set list. The quality of the recording is great and there is nothing out the ordinary going on, it is just pure music.

I would have prefered a longer set, maybe a few DVD extras like interviews, discographies and biographies, but all in all its worth the cash.

Hypocrisy - Destroys Wacken isn't bad. The sound quality is excellent, and the setlist is decent. I would've prefered more songs from their first two albums, but bonus material featuring some old original videos for songs off Penetralia and Osculum make up for it.

I wouldn't advise picking up the DVD The Crown recently released with their remake of Crowned in Terror. To begin with, the re-make isn't even necessary, and is worse than the original version(with Lindberg)which I didn't even like to begin with. The DVD setlist is complete garbage. The quality is rather poor and overall worthless.

Anthrax-Music of Mass Destruction is a great dvd, highly recommended.

Sepultura-I forgot the name but it is the one where they play in Barcelona, This one is great, Arise had just come out and they destroyed live.

Slayer-Live Intrusion(name?) There is some funny shit on this one.

Kreator - Live Kreation
Emperor - Emperial Live Ceremony

Those are the only two I have and I love both of them. The Emperial Live Ceremony DVD might not be worth it to you if you don't like the stuff that they play from IX, as it's from the IX tour.

Sepultura - Third World Chaos
Entombed - Monkey Puss: Live in London
Dimmu Borgir - World Misanthropy

If you are a Dimmu Borgir fan, you will definitely like their DVD, which includes lots of concert footage and backstage silliness.

Judas Priest -- Electric Eye
AC/DC -- Live in Donnington
Overkill -- Wrecking Everything

and this is cheating since it's a double live album plus DVD..but...

Gov't Mule -- The Deepest End: Live In Concert :D

Iron Maiden - Rock In Rio
Kreator - Live Kreation
Jag Panzer - The Era Of Kings And Conflict
Overkill - Wrecking Everything
Motorhead - (I forget the name, it's the most recent one.)
Dio - (I forget this one as well...)
