connecting guitar to computer + reamping question

What would be a best way to hook up guitar to computer to play with vst amps? Do I need to buy a pre-amp or something? Now I'm using guitar to tube screamer to soundcard. My soundcard is M-Audio 2496.
I'm asking this, because I want to record guitars with simulanalog guitar suite, and be able to re-amp later. If I use a real tube screamer in front of soundcard, is it bad for re-amping?

Uhm... a DI box? Behringer makes very cheap ones. Not that they are very good though... But the tube screamer might be enough to get the signal hot enough. Dunno.

You're going to need a direct box and a mic pre to adjust the signal level.

Beware of the cheaper DI-boxes by Behringer! I have the DI20, but it's not usable at all because of the noise. And I'm not your regular Behringer-basher, I have lots of Behringer equipment that I use and like.

No it's not bad but you'll get much better results using the advice above.

The question is, can this signal here be re-amped with good results or do i need to buy more gear?
Notice I use a little overdrive from my ts to boost the vst amp, with exact same settings I use for boosting a real tube amp.
