most people either love it or hate it. i personally love king diamonds vocals, but i know a lot of people who don't. maybe its too high or just weird for some people? i've heard some people also complain about warrel dane's vocals for the same reason.

As you could tell from my av i am a huge MF KD, but even his singing gets annoying to me after a while, expecially in Kind Diamond. His singing in MF was much better imo, expecially the earlier releases such as melissa and dbto

What the big deal is? How about he's one of the greatest vocalists in metal? His range, his style, it's completely distinctive. I think you need to get used to it bro. I went through my whole "if it isn't deep growling are manly thrash shouting it's geigh" phase. I grew out of it and found The King to be one of metal's best wailers.

Having been into metal back in the early 80's to be honest there wasn't much going on you either liked 70's rock like sabbath and led zeppelin or you was into stuff like poison and wrathchild so when bands like mettalica and accept came along we kind of jumped on anything fast and a bit loud.Nowadays it sounds really lame and very mellow compared to bands like the berzerker ect king diamond where a good band for there time and he had a good following i suppose it is like when iron maiden came out and judas priest in the 80's it sounded great compared to bands like rush and the like bands like diamond head and kreator where good for there time.
