Cover of the new Iced Earth single = pretty awesome

the whole album!!

Burnt Offerings = most consistent IE album

I must disagree. NotS is their most consistent. No songs on that album can be considered a filler. Brainwashed and the Creator's failure are both pretty meh and I skip them most of the time.

The EP has leaked.

Edit: WTF, they made THE RIFF from The coming curse sound so incredible lame on this new version.

I'm illegally downloading this right now because I've always been curious about the band.

I've always thought their album covers were awesome, the style reminds me of a dude that used to do some of my favorite Middle-earth and Magic: The Gathering cards, whose name I always forget.

Barlow is singing with Pyrameze now so he aint coming back. Im cuious about what itll sound like with Owens. Balow is superior by far though.

There's been such a mixed reaction to the reworked trilogy, I might avoid it altogether. The fact that IE were cornered into doing it doesn't make it seem so mandatory to me.

One opinion that seems constant is the disappointment in Owens. I dunno...this guy seems to need a lot of inspiration or something because he either delivers in spades or misses the mark altogether.

Looks like this lineup will be touring the US in January...

Depending on locations they hit, I may catch a date. I always thought Ripper would be a good live vocalist even though I am not the biggest fan of what he does on album.

I think the re-worked trilogy illustrates just how important Barlow was to the band (regardless of what Jon may think).

pretty much. Schaffer may have a "vision" for his band, but right now his vision is leading him towards the wrong direction. Old Iced Earth >>>> New Iced Earth. Barlow wouldn't save it, but he would make it at least tolerable.

Well well....I *really* like "Ten Thousand Strong".
It's a very solid song.

Didn't like this single at all, nor the reworked trilogy. I am officially writing off Iced Earth now.
Writing off Iced Earth based on single is crazy. This is a single... meaning it's the simplest, shortest, most MTV friendly song on the disc. We're staring down the barrel of a two disc epic. To pass judgment on this monumental undertaking, based on the most commercial song they had to offer their record company, is nuts.

Had you passed on "Something Wicked" and "Glorious Burden", based solely on their first singles ("Melancholy" and "Reckoning" respectively), you would have missed out on two fantastic trilogies.

I'm just glad the single wasn't a sign of what I was expecting for the album: The Star Spangled Banner played on several different instruments, and at one point, farted.

You're telling me that there's a chance in hell that the double album will be good given how badly he ruined his own songs in the reworked trilogy? He's washed up and/or delusional. I can't imagine he'll put out anything good after this.

Your opinion is understandable, but misinformed. Schaffer is on record stating that he had zero desire to revisit and rework the trilogy. He was forced into it by his label, who, in their infinite wisdom, thought it would be a great way to reintroduce the Something Wicked storyline to the metal masses since the original was released 9 years ago. They couldn't have been more wrong IMO and the result is the lackluster, uninspired effort you heard.

Your judgement may ultimately prove to be a valid one, but my best advice is to wait and see for yourself. I can't possibly imagine the mammouth, epic double album release that lies ahead lacking in inspiration.
