Cyanide - Metallica

Don´t like it, it bores me, i hope the rest of the album would be much, much better than this. but i think that if they decide to play this song at a big festival like ozzfest is because is one of the album good ones.

Boring, but it's as good as anything on the Black Album, which was their point of highest commercial success. And that was a long fucking time ago. They've got kids who will probably want to go to college, and that's not getting any cheaper...

Right now it's good to be Robert Trujillo. Awesome bassist, deserves the success he's had.

The drumming is actually top notch for lars imo, the song is a bit lengthy for what they actually give you, the vocals sound kind of bonk but james had pretty solid pipes for the better part of 20 years, i dunno, I bet the studio album is pretty acceptable, I wont be racing to buy it but it will be cool to hear on the radio-ish, im interested in hearing more, Id give the song a 7.5 out of 10, I have a little faith in the old Met, and Rick Rubin is no engineer, but is quality control at its finest.

What amazes me when I think about Metallica and how painfully boring their music has become, is that Slayer was around just as long if not a couple years longer and they are still heavy as shit.
Metallica on the other hand.... I'm not sure how to put it other than they bore me to the point that I feel like I should be wearing a helmet and drooling on my bib.

Yeah, But slayer still sounds like they did 20 years ago, they haven't progressed much at all. Don't get me wrong, I like slayer, but they have never taken a chance in direction of music, they always played it safe.
Metallica have at least evolved. And in my opinion, that's what a band should do, take som chances, head for new directions, write the songs they want to do, not what the fans or lilhermiejobo wants. Like slayer does. But they starting to get kinda boring too. And the last time I saw slayer, they were as bad as metallica, as playing tight wise (the unholy alliance with lamb of god etc)

hmmm, it's just a bit... boring. Doesn't really do anything cool or exciting. The worst thing is probably the vocals. I loved james vocals from AJFA to garage Inc - but it's a little too clean these days, and sung in too low a register.

Also they still haven't ditched the whole repeat everything at least 3 times which is annoying.
I wish they wouldn't say stuff like "this album sounds in between MoP and AJFA" when it very clearly doesn't. Although I'm still gonna wait til the final album is in my hands til I judge fully.

I can't say I agree. This is defiantely a (baby) step up from St Anger, but no where near their older stuff, from Kill em all to Re-load.

The song on it's own surprised me to begin with. Then it got long, then the solo section came along, then the song continued with the shitty lyrics and chorus...

Not really a fan. Modern Metallica shouldn't go for more than 5 minutes.

Thats generally what happens though isn't it in the music business? Except its called a single, normally the strongest, or one of the strongest tracks which is released before the album.

Regardless, I'm guessing there are going to be 12 songs, a lot to pick from anyway.

Staying completely neutral here ... are you saying that "One" was the strongest track off of "Justice" or that "Enter Sandman" was the strongest from the Black album?

I would agree that sometimes yes, they try to pick one of the strongest tracks to release as a single for a band ... but a lot of times they will pick what could have the widest appeal

Cheers!

Congratulations for missing anything valid in what I said.
Please, allow me to break it down for you.
1) Metallica + not heavy + claiming to be heavy = fail.
2) Slayer + heavy + never writing blues rock and claiming to be heavy afterwards = win.

easy, no?
