Data backup methods

What I tend to do is backup all my bookmarks and various other settings manually, and then I use Acronis True Image to make an image of the OS drive. I've reformatted the entire system in a grand total of 2 minutes this way. It's a complete 1:1 backup.

The backups for our on going session are already over 200gb

Right, but Marcus isn't tracking bands regularly to have a need for that much data in a session. If he's mixing things for bands the audio should be consolidated anyway, so I don't think it'd be over 60GB at that point. Regardless, I don't think he was necessarily meaning he wanted to backup just recording projects/whatev, but more like an image like Erm is talking about.

i backup sessions to another drive on the studio machine,
my lacie, and then my machine at home, and then DVD.

can never be too careful!!

Haha, Blackest you know how many times a day I think that? Nobody wants to say it because of that, but it needs to be said...

Seriously, even a 60GB SS drive would be good as a backup drive. You really have 60-fucking-GB of shit you want to back up every time?

Im backing up around 750GB atm Mike :goggly:

I run a solid state Samsung SLC drive for my OS (64GB) for speed reasons only, no value in backing up to one really unless you are backing up somewhat regularly and need it done super quick- that'd be more of a corporate thing really and not even that at the moment I guess.

i have a external lacie drive to record on, and backup that every day when i was working on one of the internal drives. just the folders i was working with. normaly the actual band`s folder who is in the studio.
after finishing i cut and paste that stuff on to two 500 gb drives to backup them forever.

on those drives i also have all my serials, explorer settings, mail accounts, sample libarys and so on wich i update from time to time...lemme guess two times in a year.
