hi!!
Im new to this board, so i hope u don´nt mind asking a question before i introduce myself.

I have heard time and time again that David wayne (metal church)
is singing out of key. Is the any truth in that.
Personally i think he is the greatest singer ever lived, RIP.
But out of a professional viewpoint, is he singing in key or not.

I couldn't tell you. I have heard that about many singers over the years from people who have much more familiarity with music theory, etc. than myself. But I say, if it sounds good to you (and your obviously not alone in that opinion), then enjoy!!

Ignorance is bliss!!

Oh yeah, I get the feeling that a lot of the music snobs that go on about this kinda stuff can not possibly get the same kind of excitement out of music like other people. It's like they miss the whole point.

As for David Wayne, I too don't possess the golden ears to find out if he's in tune or not. He absolutely rules though. One person I know is out of tune a lot is Chris Boltendahl of Grave Digger but that takes nothing out of GD's music. On the contrary, it gives the music an even greater primal metal punch which could never be achieved with some Kiske/Kotipelto clone.

So in conclusion:
1) Screw the professional viewpoints
2) Metal Church rules
3) Welcome to the board!

I saw Metal Church with Wayne only once but He was spot on from what I remember. Singers have good nights and bad so I'm sure he has had a few out of key shows. Metal bands in general put on a hell of a lot of shows when on tour so I'm sure that towards the end the singers voice gets a bit rough.

I don't know if he sang out of key or not but who cares as long as you like it (I prefer Howie era nevertheless :D).

Like what you like and screw the opinions (just respect them ;)), in the end you will be the only critic that matters because it'll be your money on the album!

BTW, welcome to the den of iniquity.

One person I know is out of tune a lot is Chris Boltendahl of Grave Digger but that takes nothing out of GD's music.

Quorthon was also legendary for his off-key vocals. But that gave more to Bathory's music!

For David Wayne, I haven't noticed any off-key singing from him, sorry. :heh:

hmm he's not off key...at least it doesn't sound like it. I mean his falsetto was in tune and the screechy kinda growl things that he did were in key as well

In a danish forum, they was a discussen about the best singer. And I put up this link. The only responds i got was, "hell, he is so much out of tune" Personally i give a didly,,but i was just wondering if they where right. Im no singer myself, and i have absolutly no ear, for hearing singen notes (expect my own) that is out of tune.
