Dead stuck on mix, Lugubre, Blackmetal

I think it sounds really good. At first I was thinking that the bass drum and snare were kind of overwhelming the guitars but then I took back that opinion. For the style I think it is perfectly mixed. Are those drums live tracked?

Cool! thanks for the reactions..

Drums were indeed tracked live :)

I'm currently finishing it all.. we got some more time then we thought so thats time i can spend well on the mix and master!

So know i'm pondering if i should clip it with my rme converters using my new tube compressor as the booster, or do it nuendo with some clipper plug ins..

here's a comparison:

Clipped RME AD with the tubecomp: http://www.box.net/shared/kvgjgzseqb

Daw Clipped: http://www.box.net/shared/psclstgx4o

I personally don't hear that much of a difference.. toms sound a bit clearer maybe with the rme ad..

And any comments on the mix would be cool too.

Mvg,

JB!

Sounds really good for this style of music man!
I really like how you balance on the edge of using too much masterbus compression. Gives it a real nice atmosphere IMO.

I do hear difference between the 2 clips, to me the outboard smokes the ITB, sounds less muddy overall and clearer in the snare and toms mainly.

One thing I don't really like is the snare. First because of some really harsh peaks / transients (listen to the loud hit at the end of each blastbeat in the beginning of the song) I'd use a limiter or clipper on the snare track to tame this a bit.
On the other hand I'd tweak the snare sound some more anyway, to me it lacks some crack. I'd say ditsch a bit of the 200 Hz area on the top mic and bring uf the bottom mic a bit, perhaps with a little wide boost around 3 kHz to bring out the crack in it.

Good busy!

Then outboard it is, i'll also send the band one to check!
Especially in the slower stuff you can hear its alot less fuzzy, and drums stay clearer, glad i got something to clip my converters :)

And i agree on the snare, it was difficult getting it out.
I'll try what you said, since it could still use some improvement.

Thanks!

I would go for the first clip(RME+Tube comp), indeed clearer, less fuzzy.

Mix sounds great dude!, Listening on my krk's, snare might be a tad soft, imho;)

Cheers
