How the hell did you go about getting that rhythm guitar sound on Resurrection through Carnage? It sounds like three fuzz pedals all turned up to 10, except somehow there is still just enough definition to tell what notes are being picked.

Well?

Apart from the obvious tweaking on the amps and eq - its ALL about this little beauty, that's now deleted from the BOSS line. This is what caused and created the "old school Sunlight-Entombed" sound.

Funny....those things sound so horrible, my friend used to have one, and he used it to play Korn hahaha.....pretty nasty, but that is awesome tone on RTC. (for that kind of music anyway)

It's not in the Boss line anymore that's true, but the MetalZone Mz-2 is the sequel and is far better  you should really check it out

i (as well as every other older swedish 90's death/black/doom band i guess) have had the MZ-2 since the day it came out. used it on nearly all my albums and live. stopped using it around '99 cuz i grew tired of the defined sound + decided to use multieffects. i agree its one of the best BOSS pedals ever, but u can instantly hear when it has been used and as for the SUNLIGHT-ENTOMBED sound - there's NO WAY it can compete with the HM-2 pedal. throw that on top of another overdrive and u got the skogsberg school nailed. however, for any other sound, that pedal is really fucked-up and weird and i wouldn't recommend it.

For those who are interested, Fleshcrawl have just released a new album that has the exact same tone as the one on Resurrection Through Carnage...

Yeah its cool but a total one trick pony. I always loved marshall amp distortion myself for its power and i guess mesa is pretty cool too. (Not gonna go into boutique amps :erk:)

How are those Matamps? Mattias i know uses one and i thought yours was one too? I was stood right in front of you at the Bristol UK show btw, kicked ass too :)

lmfao!!

i have a Metal Zone as well
although it stopped working :(

and i love the sound on that album, i always wanted to have some kind of sound liek that but I always end up making it so i can't hear what i'm playing, i'm still a rookie at this stuff haha

And for the record, I really fucking hate Metal Zones. They are cool for practicing in yer bedroom, but live, they are horrible pieces of dog shit. I gave my Metal Zone to somebody, I was so sick of it! Hah! (sort of like when I previously had a HM-2)

What amps would you recommend for maximum Sunlightyness? I do believe Entombed, Carnage and all those bands used Marshall, correct?

actually at that time they used small peavy combos. i think it was called "bandit" or something. marshall is fine tho and has been used even more. go ahead and throw a heavy metal pedal on top of an old marshall amp (note sunlight always used combos, believe it or not!) and tweak the knobs carefully (it's ez to overdo it and it'll sound a mess) and u should be on yer way to the basic dirty power drill fuzzy rhythm sound known as the sunlight sound.
