Death magnetic leaked

What do you expect? that's just to show how much hype Metallica still cause.

Winter, unlike Ozzman you seem to have quite a crush on Mustaine regardless of what music he plays.

how's lar's drumming in this one(I really don't care I just wanted to have an excuse to use this picture)?

Amazing how much bullshit you guys can talk without mentioning anything about the new album. The Metallica vs Megadeth discussion is so fucking old it stinks. Just shut the fuck up if you dont have anything to say about Death Magnetic.

Ive heard it a few times now and its growing, its an ok album.
"Broken, Beat and Scarred" and "All Nightmare Long" are two damn good songs, fast groovy riffs and good solos. Surprised they could pull out good riffs like this.

I can actually see myself listening to this album in the future, compared to StAnger, wich i listened to max 10 times.

OMFG I don't believe you listened to it 10 times :zombie:

I listened to 1/2 of Death Magnetic on my way to work. 2nd time I've listened to 1/2 of it. I actually am digging it. I don't know how much I will be able to listen to it or how rewarding it will be, but it sounds like pretty fun stuff to me. I might still listen to it in the future, or I might not, too early to determine. It has made a decent first impression, but that doesn't always mean very much.

I've got the new album and I must say that although it's a big improvement over the last couple of albums, it falls way short of anything GOOD. It sounds like a Metallica tribute band trying to write their own songs, yet still copying Metallica. It's not bad (except for the drumming) but it's not good either. The riffs are generic and stale and contrived, the solos are unimaginative and boring, and the drumming is absolutely horrendous. There are a couple of songs that could pass for filler on a much worse album by a worse band, but this is Metallica.

I honestly think that they've just lost it. I know they were trying to recapture their youth in this, but it's like they haven't been paying attention to heavy metal for the past 15 years and how it's changed. I guess they still think that thrash metal is still like Kill Em All, and it's not. They had to up the ante not just with their style but with their playing abilities and they didn't do it...I don't think they CAN do it. Musicians these days are just too good and Metallica can't keep up anymore.

As far as Death Magnetic goes, it kicks ass. I would agree that there are better songs on this album than what was released early on the website etc. And as a Marine, the video is laughable in its inaccuracies, but I get the point they were trying to make.

As far as the hijack-topic.....Dave Mustaine has one of the most annoying voices in metal, not to mention the dumbed down lyrics to go with it. I don't care how good the music is if theres intolerable wailing of asinine mental imagery to go with it.

I'm tired of people making excuses for Metallica. They're giving them leeway and not being objective. If any other thrash band released this album, they would be laughed at...but since Metallica released it, everyone loves it. There is no objectivity because people WANT to like this album, rather than go with their initial instincts. It's not catchy and it's boring. So James tremolo picks on this album...so fucking what? It's pathetic.

And you know the worst part about it all? They're still going to get a Grammy for it.

Just listened to it. If you like modern rock meant for radio, it will be great for you. But I expected some thrash metal, and my ears are sad now.

I much prefer the 'wailing' of Mustaine to Hetfield's overly forced country music twang that he has spawned over the last few years.

And as for dumbed down lyrics - What!?
