No, they don't. Rust in Peace stomps all over everything Metallica have ever done, including Master of Overhype. There's nothing in the entire Metallica catalogue that measures up to "Holy Wars". The only thing that Metallica has on Megadeth is production, and only on Master of Puppets.

Just because a band can write decent-to-good music for longer does not make them better than a band that wrote a few utterly brilliant albums. That's like saying Motorhead is better than Black Sabbath because Motorhead is currently writing better music than Sabbath is.

Mustaine and co are responsible for influencing countless numbers of the more technical thrash bands. They also introduced political dialog not seen in other bands of the time. Metallica were a very important band, but they have lost the spark imo. Megadeth are still more metal than hard rock these days, whereas Metallica have become more hard rock than metal.

Megadeth dumbed down their shit a lot too. They are not as important a band as Metallica is though. I think the newer Megadeth is much worse than this new Metallica album. Dave did always get much better musicians for his band though.
