Individual Thought Patterns, Symbolic, and The Sound of Perseverance are, in my view, the only worthwhile - and, in fact, brilliant - releases from this band. Everything prior is rather standard death metal, id est, boring.

Avoid this advice.

Leprosy and Human are the best.

Actually don't. Human is a great album. Certainly a much better album than the pseudo-progressive cheesy nonsense that he released on the later albums. I'd recommend Human right after Spiritual Healing, which I thought there would be more love for to be honest...

Individual Thought Patterns is ok. Heading into that territory though. Everything after that I don't own, but what I've heard sounded terrible.

I don't understand why almost everybody bashes Symbolic. Even after my exposure to so much great DM from the early 90s, this album still sounds fresh to me. I may have connected to it so much that I don't even notice its alleged mediocrity. Oh, well. *shrug. TSOP was a bad exercise in shred though.
