Decibel Magazine feature

Thanks! Seems like an interesting read - I'm right on it!
Cheers.

EDIT: Well, having read it, there's nothing particularly new here except for the mention of Åkesson's love of spicy food, but it's still a fun, tasteful read nonethelss. The ending seems a bit abrupt, though.

Like the funk part in ‘The Lotus Eater,’ which we called ‘Grind’—I know it is outrageous, but it didn’t feel outrageous at the time."

Haha, it has a name!

"I never thought there would be a track where we’d have something like this. Because ["The Lotus Eater"] is one of the weirder tracks people probably think I’ve disappeared up my own ass. To be honest, this is where my musical head is at out of all of the songs on the album. It’s the most fucked up song. It represents me."

.

"I don’t like to hear when people say we’re doing the same record over and over again. If you write down our sound—heavy, clean, back to heavy, quiet part—on paper, then yes, I can understand. But I don’t think it sounds the same."

Again, practically writing a past thread of mine for me.

I didn’t want ["Coil"] to be sappy where we end up singing together—like rejoicing!—in the end. I wanted there to be distance between the vocals.

I'm happy this more or less dismisses a rather irritating Youtube vid.

Some of the best mainstream journalistic coverage of Opeth there, in my opinion.

Really good interview imo, not only good questions/answers but good as a "whole", credits to Decibel!
