I'm sure you do, and I'm not surprised. a lot of people on these types of message boards tend to be close-minded about the opposite kind of music, and I suppose that means I'm too open-minded on this board for my own good

All music isn't art. Some music is art, some music is entertainment; pop music is not art. It is entertainment, made for the purpose of entertaining without any artistic integrity whatsoever. A rule of thumb that holds true 99% of the time is that if you see it on MTV or hear it on mainstream radio, it was manufactured to be easily digested entertainment for the masses.ryan1987online said:

You could argue that, yes. However, pop music is not art for the sake of art, it is manufactured to appeal to a large audience; the "art" contained in the product is entirely banal and mostly disregardable. It might be a bit of an "art" knowing what makes a "hit" song, songwriting-wise or production-wise, but the product has nothing to communicate and the "artist" has no integrity whatsoever. The sole purpose of the product is to make money through entertainment. If that's art, at least it's worthless art in my eyes.ryan1987online said:

Yeah I like the Deftones. I've got White Pony, Around The Fur and Deftones. My fav. song is Change (In The House Of Flies), I just love that song for some reason. And alot of their songs remind me of the girl I like. I guess that's why I like them lol.

Yeah that band brings back a lot of my highschool memories. I own all of their albums. Adrenaline is pretty good but it gets monotone and boring. Around The Fur is their best I think. I loved some of the aggressive songs in there like "My Own Summer" and "Head Up" and those other lovely songs like "Mascara" and "Dai The Flu". I listened to "Back To School" from White Pony like a billions of times. The most memorable song from that album is "Pink Maggit" and that song is so depressing though. Their self-titled one is pretty good, it's like something beween Around The Fur and White Pony.
