Depressing, Sorrowful, Misanthropic Black Metal: Let's Discuss

I saw that someone mentioned Animus earlier...I am a little biased seeing that I released it, but it really is an essential item if you are into this style. Some of the most personal music I have ever heard in this arena. I didn't see anyone mention Elysian Blaze. They are amazing. Simply amazing. Levitating The Carnal is brilliant!! Vhernen is also quite nice.

Funny,I was interesting in the Animus album just from the little bit written on the store front about the album before I saw noticed people were talking about them/him here. Do you write those descriptions? Perhaps I will pick it up.

I write the descriptions for my releases as well as some of them in the catalog. Others I take from the band/label websites or reviews. A lot of it depends on how much free time I have.

How about Wigrid and Weakling? I don't think I saw them on here. Then again, I am tired as hell. They may have been the first.

Wigrid and Weakling are definitely both amazing. Weakling always reminds me of The Gault... I really don't even know if it would be considered Black Metal.. but damn if the atmosphere isn't depressive and saddening. I'm fond of Elysian Blaze's Prophecy of Misery album. Vhernen reminds me a lot of Inferi... very hypnotic and repetitive. Good trance inducing stuff. I've been getting into the following lately:

Absolutus
Mortualia
Blood Red Fog

The new Animus album is nearly complete. However, it might be a few months before it is released. I've heard a single track and it was wonderful.

Oh...and I have a feeling that I am really going to enjoy it here. I've never heard (or even heard of, for that matter) of a few of the bands listed on this thread. The most recent being:

Absolutus
Mortualia
Blood Red Fog

It never ceases to amaze me how much stuff is out there.

RC actually seems to be pulling things together a bit these days!

Remember for a while there, we'd hardly EVER have much of a music discussion at all - even anywhere on the first page of threads!
