But, and this is my opinion, these things should grow from little things, particularly where a relatively underground scene is invovled. I reckon there should have been a year or two, or maybe three, of smaller scale tours with maybe some of the bigger Australian bands, like Dungeon and the like, and a maybe a smaller name international headliner. Then, once the name "Destruction of Oz" is a bit known in scene for putting on good quality, good value shows, they should have started with the bigger name headliners.
For mine, that would mean a cheaper show, but still with the grand intentions of making it an international style "event".
Kinda like Metal For the Brain, but not for charity.

@ Spawny!!! Does that mean "Return To Oz" never happened then?
Sydo said:They were always going to struggle to sell 1500+ tickets without a ture headliner. I be surprised if any of those bands could sell 200+ tickets on their own.

Had Destruction of Oz gone ahead, and been successful, it could well have been a wake-up call to other promoters to give metal bands a go at "legitimate" festivals like Big Day Out and Livid. Now we'll never know.

spawn said:Ive never heard of that, what did they go back to? I mean after the destruction was cancelled I guess they felt safe, but the land of oz obviously came into peril again?
