The Dev said:Hey guys,
all the guest spots for the most parts are just in one song at a time and are not huge parts...
Trying to make a 'musical' without being totally cheesy requires different voices. There's no story though, it's not 'Operation Mindcrime' or anything, just 9 (looong) songs and a ton of layers and vibes, so having different folks and energies gives it color.
The people I have involved are friends and colleagues. I've had a lot of people offer, but really...I wanted to keep it to people I knew or have had a musical relationship with.

The character goes to hell to confront himself, his fears and his demons. He meets the 'devil' and realizes that it is himself, and he moves on to believing his is now capable of understanding the universe and everything having conquered the fear of himself..
This arrogance leads him to the furthest corners of his mind until he is presented with a vision of the sum of everything. It ends up being a cheeseburger, presented by a choir of angels. The point is that EVERYTHING EXISTS IN EVERYTHING, and the whole time his arrogance has led him to absurd personal dramas based on the arrogance that the universe is actually just an equation to be solved, when really... there is nothing but reality. For example, deconstruction a fractal (mandelbrot) is endless, but the equation is elegant and subtle.
The cheeseburger (or whatever he was looking at, it doesn't matter really) needed to be absurd to make the point. I guess the point may be that feeling the need to conquer everything is simply a reflection of powerlessness overall.
He finds the true nature of what he was looking at so closely when he stands back and observes it from a distance, and from a distance it becomes something uninteresting. So Ghost starts.

The Dev said:Ok, renamed it Deconstruction after all...
The cheeseburger metaphor is not the point of the song in the scheme of it, and that realization happens halfway through the song.
So there, officially it is now 'Deconstruction' ...sorry to those that prefer Cheeseburger
And there is substantially more fapping in 'Deconstruction' (yaw!) than Masturbator tbh, the point of masturbator (17 minutes of it...) is exploring excess (emotionally or otherwise) to arrive at the conclusion that we often do it to make ourselves feel important or powerful etc... so it had to be long, wanky, odd and random.
...and let me assure you...it is.
It's interesting that Devin who is far from multiplatinum status can afford a real orchestra to play on a record. Especially that I'm sure he would have done a good job with samples too. I really wonder how is it possible... I know in Eastern Europe it's cheaper but still... it's not like they work for peanuts.
anyone else get a boner watching this?
Some numbers for comparison:
http://www.worldsalaries.org/allsectors.shtml
Salaries & Earnings for All Sectors, Net Monthly Income
Switzerland $ 3,603
UK $ 2,677
USA $ 2,313
Finland $ 2,173
Canada $ 1,876
Czech $ 527
Romania $ 188
Thailand $ 140
I think that's the same orchestra that recorded the Dimmu album. They're dirt cheap IIRC, at least for being a full symphony orchestra!
Devin Townsend: Thanks Paul M! Beautiful...
