Dimmu Borgir's re-recording of "Stormblåst"

why can't people

LEAVE THEIR OLD MATERIAL THE FUCK ALONE
You probably know that in Stormblast's case, Dimmu Borgir wasn't receiving any money for its sales, which is a good reason to re-record an album.

It's not like they don't make enough money anyway, though. :loco:

plus they don't have to take into account the "Barker Hot Dog budget" anymore, which should save them a hefty chunk of cash

Well, of course you have to factor in album sales, merch/live sales, and licensing. They had two tracks in Hellboy, and I'm sure others have appeared elsewhere.

i was talking about fans with my vocalist last night (on the way to get some smexican food :kickass: ), he was saying how awful they were because they are always fickle. as soon as you do something they slightly dislike, they HATE you for it.

he's right, fans fucking blow. i think this is a dumb idea too but who cares? it's THEIR music and they can do what they want with it.

no, that's arguably the worst fucking reason i've heard in my entire life
Really? If you release an album and don't get any money out of it, I guess you would too find a way to earn back this money that you deserve.

well they didn't write stormblast to gain money, they just replayed it for money. :loco:

also dimmu have been following in the footsteps of kiss for some years now, so this shouldn't be any big surprise. :loco:

*clever sentence #3* :loco:

I wonder if the old Cacophonus version is going to go out of print now?
Well let's look at the situation here:

* Cacophonous releases "Stormblåst" in 1996
* Band gets really popular, switches label
* Cacophonous makes lots of money now from new fans that want the old album
* Band gets pissed because they don't think they're getting enough precious $$$ from Cacophonous
* Band decides to re-record album and release on different label

POP QUIZ!

What's going to happen next:

A) Cacophonous suddenly decides that "nah, we don't want to make any more money off this album now. We're done. Now that Dimmu has released a superior version on another label, why should we keep making money off the old one?"

B) Cacophonous continues selling the album and raking in the dollars, while Nuclear Blast sells the new version and rakes in even more dollars.

C) NicodemiX is going to e-punch Erik in the face.

Well I'm 50% done with downloading the torrent now. I've tried to listen to a couple of the songs but they're skipping and shit due to the download. I'm keeping my hopes up high... I am NOT, I repeat NOT afraid to like this album. They will never defeat the real Stormblast, but who knows what I'll think. I'll post thoughts in about an hour.
