Distortus Maximus

how else would you use a distortion pedal if not plugging your guitar into it and the output to the amp sim?

A cab sim, to be precise. These distortion pedals are basically a substitute for solid-state heads. Comparing this to a TS, as you've mentioned a few post earlier makes no sense 'cause the TS is used for a boost. A boost that would make the distortion generated from the amp tighter. Apart from that, the pod sounds shitty. With something else in the way it sounds shittier. So yeh, if you wanna get a decent tone out of KDM use a cab sim or plug it into to a clean tube amp and then to a real cab. These are pretty basic stuff, but as you're new to the forum I'm stepping forward and helping you out a bit.
