Is anyone else disturbed by the "finger sliding noise" on the acoustic parts of Porcelain Heart?
They appear for instance at times:
0:49
0:56
1:04
1:11
1:26
1:33
2:39
2:47
2:54

I have not experienced anything similar on any other Opeth album. :erk: Otherwise, I love the song.

Any acoustic guitarist will tell you (including myself) that it is nearly impossible to get rid of that noise. It just happens as you play.

moonlapse vertigo has that pretty bad, but it kind of adds to the song a bit, which i find it does here for me too. Can understand how it can annoy people though

Very true, sure we get the noise every now and then, but we also get a much nicer acoustic sound rather than him playing it all on the electric with an acoustic sim. We'd still have the noise a bit then anyway

EDIT: Thats not to say i dont like the sliding noise, think it adds that little bit more

Me too. I can't understand why people don't love it actually!

And as far as I know, he never used acoustic simualtors in the studio.

true but it does get a bit irritating sometimes. kinda like when muse plays a soft intro tune in "falling away with you". You can barley hear the guitar but you cringe at those loud slides.

God damn it. Find stuff to talk about. A fucking sliding noise on Watershed is what bothers you? Just enjoy the damn song!!! Stop obsessing.

It brings naturality to the songs.
In fact, when I hear the acoustic parts I can see Mike playing the acoustic guitar in front of me.

Take it easy guys. I just brought this up to have your opinion and to discuss it. After all, this is a forum for discussing Opeth's music... shall I consider myself being "owned" for bringing this up and being disagreed with?

I understand that the sliding "sound" is natural when playing an acoustic guitar. Still, I can't help being somewhat distracted by the sound, on some occasions. Anyway, I'm glad for you guys that the sliding sound enhances your listening experience.

Take care.
