I love that sound, it adds to the music I think.

the sound can be distracting sometimes and a little to clearly heard in the mix.
the way of avioding it is to lift the fingers clear of the strings when changing fret position, this also applies to bass guitar with roundwound strings.

i think it is ther deliberatly but in my opinion a little high in the mix

just a question of technique really

Man there's loads of Opeth songs with those noises, it's produced by your fingers sliding on the strings. It doesn't just happen on acoustics either, listen to the main riff in And Justice For All by Metallica.... How shit would that riff sound without all the sliding noises on the strings?
