Do you believe in hell?

Melancholia: "...and I doubt all the Christians are sooooooooo nice that they deserve to go to this lovely place they call heaven..."

No doubt! I've known some foul churchgoers that are just so fake. ::in a taunting tone:: They're not going to go to heaven if they keep it up!

"The hands of God, decrepit and thin.
Cold caress and then nothing."

Hinduism is a religion, but there's also a logical/philosophical/atheistic side to it that I find rather interesting. This is meant as an analogy only, the philosophical Hindu's don't mean this literally, it's just a way of looking at things that I find interesting:

In the beginning there was god and only god, that's all there ever was and ever will be. God looked around itself and saw nothing and was bored. So god decided to divide itself and create a universe, which is really just an extension of itself and therefore also god. Then god decided it would create sentient beings so that it could interpret the universe it had created through their eyes. In humans, god is playing hide and seek with itself. Through the facade of humans god experiences pleasure/pain and a whole range of emotions and sensations which gives its existence meaning and amusement. In this analogy, humans are the eyes through which god becomes self-aware, through us god is looking at itself, having fun, scaring the shit out of itself, and basically having a load of fun.

Philosophical Hinduism also has a concept of "enlightenment" which is said to occur when a human becomes ultimately self-aware, that is, aware that you are in fact "god" and that you are playing this cosmic game of hide and seek with yourself for amusment purposes.

It's interesting to note that in religions such as christianity, judiasm, and muslim, the phrase "I am god" is considered the ultimate blasphemy, however, in philosophical hinduism if someone says "I am god" others will say "Congradulations, you figured it out."

Philosophical hindu's have a very sympathetic and interesting way of looking at people who have not yet come to this "I am god" conclusion: such people are a thing of beauty because they are wrapped up in the illusion of reality and aren't truly "self" aware, in them god is finding a great deal of amusment/experience, which is why god created organic-based consciousness in the first place. Therefore, those who spend their lives fearing death and desiring "heaven" are in fact fulfilling god's intent of self-entertainment, which was its whole point in creating a universe in the first place.. god is playing hide and seek with itself and limiting it's own intelligence in varying degrees so that it can have a wide range of interesting experiences.

It's important to note that all this crap is just that, CRAP! It's not meant to be taken literally, just as an analogy, a way of interpreting consciousness and it's relation to the cosmos. Of course in this philosophy there is no "sin" or "evil", there is just IS, and everything is inherently "good" simply because it is happening. Good or bad, everything every human experiences is a rich experience and that's the whole fucking point.

I don't subscribe to this analogical philosophy myself, but I find it kinda amusing/interesting, and a hell of a lot more plausible and beneficial than the fear/war religions.

I found this little Gem on the Blaze forum:

Here's one of the better excerpts:
"FACT

Under the disguise of Entertainment, chickens and other creatures are sacrificed on stage today while the same rhythm is beaten out to frenzied audiences who are encouraged to cut themselves with knives and razor blades and to commit vicious cries such as rape, mugging and even murder."

jesuschristpose, jesus said that to the guy on the cross because he told christ that he believed in him. If a man has done horrible sins , in the christian faith we believe that when christ died for the chosen, not for everyone, then it was powerful enough to cover all sins. So he knew the heart of the man next to him thats why he told him that he would see him. and it was martin luther you were talking about. I think you guys should study john calvins works if you want to bash christianity. I think the main reason you guys bash christianity is becouse yall are so bitter and that you hate anything to do with it and maybe if you tried to look at it and study it without trying to find the bad, then you might get somewhere. And also, there are a lot of bad christians out there. Christians sin. everyone sins. And you can say youve seen christians doing drugs or having sex or commiting adultry or whatever. there are abominations, and if you want to know them you can study them so you can bash them too hehe. But if you keep a life style like that, and dont repent then its up to you and God. And how do you know these people are christians? Just becouse they say they are doesnt mean they are. People say that to be a christian you ahve to believe in God. well what god are they talking about? And a lot of christians say stupid things, like on websites and junk that yall look up and post on here. Noones perfect ok. So if you want to keep bashing christians its fine, just know that a wise person speaks few words, and you dont have to make your point over and over. You dont see any christians on here bashing you athiest hehe. Anyways, dont mean to upset any of you guys. You guys are smart. and I like how you guys love music but just stop bashing us christians ok. Were not out to get anybody. and just try to respect us and our beliefs. and please let me know where in the bible where it tells someone to sin. I'd like to know, then you can talk bad about us.:)

Amazing that people believe that nonsense!

Obviously you dont understand what it means.

Yeah, i don't beleive in some dude that walks on water, and some other guy that parts the seas...

It's obviously because i 'dont understand'.

Christian Logic of course!!

I can't bash christianity in real life, because everyone is a christian. Here, I'm actually in the majority for once, I'll bash it apart, It's my opinion, it's the opinion of most people here. I'm not trying to be hostile Joshy, I don't have anything wrong with Christians that keep it to themselves, I also don't mind you countering what we say here, as long as you're not trying to convert us

If it really bothers ya, don't read the religion threads :p
It's bound to get bashed and insulted here. I understand what you're saying about finding the good in it, but i'd rather find my own way, instead of a pre-written one, and it's still amusing to hear/read stuff like the link I posted :spin:

maybe if you tried to look at it and study it without trying to find the bad, then you might get somewhere

...I have studied religion, and in specific Christianity and Islam for over 10 years, as well as researching other forms of organised religion such as buddhism etc...

...So don't try and tell me that my views come from my 'religiously uneducated mind'.

Tell me, if god is so 'omnipresent', and he loves all living creatures, then why did the motherfucker take Chuck Schuldiner? ...or Brandon Lee? ... or Bruce Lee? Why did he let (make...) all of them die so young?

All three of them were basically just 'good people', and they all had a dream set into their minds, and had it taken from them by death.

Is this your 'loving gods' will??

All this religious positioning got me thinking: these discussions remind me of the big public uprise when they wanted the gay/lesbian parade. The arguement that is made - and one I agree with - is why do you need a parade to show who you are? Let's have the homophobe parade - so we can all prove to ourselves that we're straight (for those of us who are). It's all crap. I don't care if you're gay or lesbian - but why advertise?

I find religion no different. Let the people go find religion if they want it, but stop selling it on a street corner. It looks like a commodity from my eyes. It's not supposed to be - but it looks that way. It's the nastiest form of chinese water torture that I know - I'll live my life where everyday I'll run into a subtle hint of religion - it will come to me, even though I'm not looking for it. Just like those drips of water that hit your head every minute or so - it just cuts to the bone. I'm truely sick of religion - not a specific religion - just religion.

OK - ranting over.

Joshy. I have nothing against Christianity as a religion. It's the people who go out of their way to punish and condemn me, and tell me how unclean I am and how I'm going to hell that pisses me off, thus I tend to talk negative about Christianity to just get it all out. It's healthy to vent.

Though I personally think all organized religions are cults that are acceptable in the mainstream, and are made to subvert the populace and make them into obediant sheep by scaring them into following their God for the pursuit of a reward of an eternity in heaven, and...

...(catches breath)... I still have nothing against people who believe in God. If your believe gets you through life and it fits you, go ahead. However, I DO have a problem with Christians who actively try to get me to change my beliefs, try to put a strangle hold on the American government and make this country a "Christian nation" based on "Christian morality", and condemns anyone who disagrees.

Christianity, as they say, is "the love that dares to speak it's name... over, and over, and over, and over, ad infinitum, ad nauseum, until you die or loose your hearing."

Metalman, you hit the nail right on the head. (again...!!)

I couldn't care less if someone is gay, lesbian, christian*, blue, black, green, etc...

I couldn't care less, AS LONG as it isn't shouted in my face. I have my views on alot of things, and most of my views are held very strongly, but i'm not going to use those views and beleifs as a starting point or as a focuspoint of a discussion or conversation...

It's just like that dude on the Nevermore board (Metallica Sucks Cock...??) into all that freaky animal-porn crap... I couldn't care less what he does (although i find it rather discusting...!!), AS LONG as he keeps it to himself.

Lets face it, for all ANY of us know, the majority of the users of this board could be raging-poofs.... but who cares? No-one goes around trying to convert each other, or 'enlighten' everyone else.

-Rant complete.

 You wouldn't believe how many gay enemies I have for agreeing with that statement. It's like what my eldest brother said when I told him about me. He said: "I'd even hate it if they had a straight parade, hell I'd probably hate a straight parade more than a gay parade. It doesn't matter what sexuality you are, I just don't see the point of advertising your sexuality to the world."

My friends say the whole purpose is to "promote tolerence" but the only result I've ever seen from these parades are people pointing at them and saying "look at the freaks" and feeling even more alienated from gays. Oh well, I guess every homo see's some grand point in pride parades except me.

@JesusChristPose:
Hades was the god of the underworld. Tartaros I think was the place of the dead in general, not very sure of it though.

As far as Jesus Christ is concerned, I think that after the Crucifixion (when his body died), he might have gone in paradise for three days, while his body remained into the earth. But after that, the Resurrection happened, and he remained on earth for 40 days to teach his students. Then he ascended into heaven and sitted on the right of His Father.

I know not such word as "onios" The word is "oinos".

I, as many of you, dislike the closed-minded christians that are fake and supposed to be good and go to heaven, while they are mean creatures. Big hypocrites...
But I disagree that all who call themselves christians/are christians/believe in the teachings of christianity are like those mentioned above.
I also think that people who generalize things and/or make statements against something that they have never taken the time to study (aka they don't know), without presenting any logical arguments, are simply intolerable and closed-minded as well.

Personally, I agree with the stuff that Jesus taught, which in one word is love, and I think that if only everyone just tried to act with this in mind, this would be a whole lot better world to live in...

Hey umm not a lot of christians believe this but, jesus went to hell after he died for 3 days. Thats why it says the 3rd day he rose again from the dead, and assended into heaven. I mean if you are dieing for the chosen peoples sins, then where do you go to pay for it?

@Belial: I didn't make any assumptions, I was precise and meant exactly what I said.
So, I didn't make any implications, I just refered to the people who really do all the things I mentioned.
Hope you didn't understand otherwise ;)
