Do you believe in hell?

Hey umm not a lot of christians believe this but, jesus went to hell after he died for 3 days. Thats why it says the 3rd day he rose again from the dead, and assended into heaven. I mean if you are dieing for the chosen peoples sins, then where do you go to pay for it?

Well, this I explain in another way. He rose from the dead, which means his dead body rose, he resurrected. Another 40 days passed though before he ascended into heaven.
Also I don't believe he died for the chosen people sins, it is clearly said that he died for all mankind's sins, he never made a distinguish between chosen people and "sinners".
And let's don't forget that according to the bible he IS god, so IMHO he can go anywhere he likes to pay for those sins
Anyway, I don't think it's as simple as paying for someone's sins instead of them, it's more complicated than that and it could take a lot of discussion :)

Dude if he died for everyones sins than everyone would go to heaven. DUH! hehe so obviously he didnt. And he didnt die for everyone becouse that would mean that anyone can choose to accept him, and God says in the bible dont think taht you chose me, but i chose you first. You dont become a christian by yourself. And then you might think well then why doesnt God choose everyone so everyone will be saved? well why should everyone be saved. we dont deserve everyone to be saved. The fall of man shows taht we dont deserve this gift. Thats why you see christians tryin to witness. And jesus was God and man. Not just God, you have to get that straight becouse God cant die. Jesus died.
Also i found this verse thats pretty cool, it goes against like all those telavangalist on tv that say that jesus is coming back like in the new millenium and stuff. it says "therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming,, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. For this reason you be ready too, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.

So... Should I guess you are one of the chosen?
I really hate it when "good christians" talk like that. IMHO you don't have the slightest clue about Jesus and what he taught. And I want try to convince you about anything.
And I very well know who Jesus is, I know that he is both god and man. And you should get straight in your head that his being a man doesn't deminish his godliness, neither does his being a god diminishes his nature of a man.
Enough said on this subject from my part, I don't think that the rest are so interested in this stuff or that this was the purpose of the thread.

Yeah, i don't beleive in some dude that walks on water, and some other guy that parts the seas...

It's obviously because i 'dont understand'.

Kant will explain that for you... even if it is all bollocks.

I'm at a split decision on this subject. I'm really not sure I believe in an almighty bieng controlling everything. I don't believe that this God created man through Adam and Eve, because science has proved that not to be. Not believing in Adam and Eve comes with not believing in the original sin, so I really think alot of the stuff in the Bible was conjured from Paul's mind. The idea that I have to go through life living by 10 basic, simple rules, too me, is not all in all a bad idea, I just need some proof that I will be awarded or shunned for my actions.

"...blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."

I think that at some other point he said: "believe and question" as opposed to "believe and don't question" (lame translation that I did, in greek the second saying is known as "pisteve kai mi erevna" or "ðßóôåõå êáé ìç åñåýíá". Hope you understand what I mean...)
Anyway I'm not even sure he said that since I don't go around studying the bible..

The original question of this thread is - Do You Believe in Hell?

It's almost obvious by the responses here and almost everywhere else on this board, as well as reading the newspaper, listening to the news, etc. Do I believe in hell?

Hell Yeah - but it's not about some after-life theory. I'm already sitting in it, living in it. One more thing, though, is hell is not as bad as it is depicted in movies, etc. : hell=life. It's up to the individual to deal with it. Either you're strong enough to somehow cope, no matter how close to the edge you are, or you don't cope. Some medically can't cope - and it's not their choice, but the hand that was dealt to them. Some go crazy, kill people, etc.

So I don't worry about Satan, or some fiery after-world. There are too many Satan's in this world already.

HEy death falls nice post but let me just say somethin real quick, you said "so therefore i'm considered a sinner by my parents' and former church's standards." Ok just to let everyone know, the bible says , ALL HAVE SINNED, and fall short the glory of God. So dont think christian think that christians are perfect. I know a lot of christians that have it just as bad as nonchristians. God knows there hearts tho, and I dont, so i cant say, well i think they are going to hell, or i think they are going to heaven. or whatever. But ne ways, i just wanted to say that couse a lot of people think christians think they dont sin. I sin a lot! its hard.

Then why look upon it as sins when it is totally human to
do mistakes? God to me seems like a judging God, not a
friendly one. He sees your heart, but still let you know
you're living in sin? What is that? Why do you even bother
thinking you're living in sin when it clearly hurts you?

You should think about all you have done and make up
your own mind if it was stupid or the correct thing to do,
and then learn something from it :o)
Why follow God's rules, when you know yourself so much
better? Well, that's just my opinion though, I know
christains say God knows them better than anyone else....

Just one thing here.. "You'll see it when you believe it..".. I love that quote.. it's so sarcastically christian :)
Anybody wanna talk about miracles? :P

Too true, Metalmancpa :) It's easy to believe when you see the evil events that occur in this Hell-hole
To ponder, is it Hell to those of us alone who know? What of those that don't know, who seem to thrive here? Malevolantly myopic, or more likely they are 'in on it' ;)

Homosexuality

Homosexuality is an 'abomination' (Leviticus 18.22), gays are to be executed (Leviticus 20.13). Even transvestites are an abomination (Deuteronomy, 22.5) Sodomites are abominations (Deuteronomy 23:17-18). Jehosaphat did what was 'right in the eyes of the lord', and took the homosexuals out of the land, and exterminated them (1 Kings 22.43, 46). Paul condemns homosexuals (Romans 1:26-27, 1 Timothy 1:10) Paul says gays will go to hell (1 Cor.6:9-10). In Jude 7, we are told not to go after 'strange flesh' as did the Sodomites. And in Revelation, John calls homosexuals "dogs", and tells us they are going to hell. (Rev.22:15)'
