If Schecter wants the creme de la creme artist endoresement for their bari's and 7's.. it should be Loomis.

Does Loomis get his Shecks free?

I would say "Yes."

Also, the Hellraiser C7 is a trippy guitar. The "volume" knob on mine changes depending on which pickup is selected... never seen that before... takes awhile to get used to, but I'd like to know why Loomis likes it this way...

volume knob is in quotes? is it magical?

maybe it has a high pass filter on it?

i'm just sitting here thinking "loomis should have an endorsement" from schecter.

in metronome trials, loomis would kick everyones ass on this board.. and that is great.

best nev is still their self titled.. who is with me?

i read somewhere that even with Mesa endorsements, most artists pay a reduced fee. Though im not too sure.

Also, i know loomis's main schecter is a modded C-7 w/ a floyd.

I really dont know.

It is becoming less and less common for companys to give things away. Means artists get gear because they actually want it rather going to the company that will give them the most for free.

Kinda. There are three knobs and a pickup selector on the guitar. If you select the bridge pickup, the middle knob is volume. If you select the neck pickup the top knob becomes the volume control. It is kinda weird... :err:

I have an endorsement with Mesa. I get reduced prices, and free service, but I pay for my amps and cabs.

I was with Jackson guitars for 5-6 years (until Fender purchased them). I got a healthy price break but nothing free. When I was with Jackson, three artists got free guitars: Scott Ian, Dave Mustaine & Phil Collen. With them, if you don't have a signature model, you're paying for your guitars.

I don't know how it is with Schecter, but my guess is that Jeff is paying for hist guitars, although he is probably paying cost, which is a great price...

Edit: forgot to say... I'm still on the Jackson Guitars webpage under artists, even though my contract expired over two years ago.

I think it depends on the company. I know some people who are endorsed by ESP. They get only 1 or 2 LTD models free (depending on contract), and I think a reduced fee for ESP's. But, I've also heard that some bands just get artist pricing. I also know a band on Metal Blade that is endorsed with Ibanez. The 2 guitarists and bass player each get 1 free Ibanez per year, and reduced costs I think for custom shop axes.

Some drum brands also do either 50% or free stuff if you talk good enough... One cymbal brand I know does "Free the first time" : you come in and take all that you want (like 3 ride, 3 hats, whatever), and then it's 50%.

I don't know about ESP or Schecter, but I do know that Ibanez usually gives one regular guitar to their endorsers a year, with an option for new Custom Shop ones at discounted prices. My teacher has an Ibanez endorsement and this is the deal he has. John Scofield gets his signature guitars for free, and pays cost for any other guitar.

Very interesting info.

I know a guy who recently gave private lessons to Mark Tremonti at his home in Florida.

He told me that he was literally tripping over Mesa's and PRS's cuz Tremonti had so much freaking gear. Obviously with Creed money he can afford all that shit, but it sounded to me like he was getting the stuff for free.

i guess if they are big enough with enough airplay, they get stuff for free. I remember reading somewhere that some band got a messload of free marshall cabs that didnt have speakers just to decorate the stage. I know thats common, but i remember them being famous.

That's funny......one of my old teachers from the late 80's lived in Florida for a few years and gave Tremonti lessons at his house aswell.

I know Tremonti gave John Petrucci a couple guitars as a gift. This is mentioned on the Portnoy's "Drums of Thought" DVD.

John used the guitars while creating scratch tracks for Train of Thought.

That's because one volume knob is wired for the neck pickup, and one for the bridge.

I personally set mine up for master volume and no tone, as with all my guitars ;).
