Does the mainstream control the music an artist or band makes?

I never said Fall Out Boy was Hardcore, I said the members of Fall Out Boy were in Hardcore Punk bands before they formed Fall Out Boy.

Who the fuck cares if they were in hardcore bands...if anything that only makes them even worse, because they sold out and became big label bitches. Underground artists like Immortal Technique constantly get offers from big labels, but the difference between them and Fallout Boy is that they reject them because everyone knows that once you sign a contract with a big label, more or less, you're doing what THEY want or what's "in". When you love what you do it doesn't matter if you don't make a lot of money, if you're good at it the money will eventually come. This is one of the reasons that so many of these bands go mainstream in the first place; they know they're not good enough, so they just give in.

The point I was trying to make is that whoever they signed to changed them. But yeah fuck whats "in".
