LOL. I've yet to go in seach of this meal, but I believe we will hitting places further from the beaten path this time around. As I understand it, the chicken is amazing, and it's served with a ridiclous amount of side dishes.

Though the best lunch, is definitely the $1 shrimp tacos. I've never seen anything like them in the U.S., but they are amazing. combined with a 24oz margarite for $3, you can;t go wrong.

I love shrimp tacos! While they're not $1 each, there's a new "gourmet" chain that's begun to sprout up around here called Baja Fresh (all food made-to-order, nothing pre-prepared) that has BAD ASS fish tacos for $2.50 each. Delish.

So how far off the beaten path are you going? Go far enough and bring back tons of black market painkillers pls k thx

well for 8th grade I lived in North Port, just north of Port Charlotte; the small town was overrun by juvenile delinquents (white), many of whom did indeed end up in jail. we had a 30 minute bus ride to my jr. high school and we went through eight bus drivers during the school year, the kids were just shit, throwing things at the driver, fighting, etc.

this was while my dad was on a one year unaccompanied tour of Korea.

then he got orders to MacDill AFB in Tampa, so we moved there, and I got bussed to my high school WHICH HAD BARBED WIRE AROUND IT, and the black kids were so heinously poor...their moms would send them to school in shorts and torn t-shirts, and they would rob the white kids of their lunch money, etc.

fun fun fun

Well I can certainly see where you're coming from there.

No, not at all.

Half my family lives in Florida, and I've been countless times, to many different parts of the state.

It sucks. Hard.

Ok, but is it a case of "oh man where to begin?" when thinking of how much is sucks or are there more specifics you can give me? Since I'm thinking of relocating I can obviously use as much insight as possible.

It's a case of "oh man where to begin."

We can start with the weather though...

especially up in the panhandle.

Yeah, I do know to at least steer clear of that shithole.

like I said elsewhere, if you've got money, you can live in great places. If you don't, sucks to be you.

Well - the place I'm staying in now is in a quiet, residential community in Bradenton. The landscaping is immaculate, you can hear a pin drop every hour of the day - all the homes have pools, it's like 10 minutes from some pretty nice beaches and there's plenty of retirees in the area. The homes go for about 350K around here.

I would love to know if they're similar in preparation to those in Mexico.

You don't have to stray too far to find those.

Playa sort of revolves around 5th Ave. It's currently (it seems to grow longer each year) a 2 - 3 mile stretch of open air restaurant and stores, that people walk down all day and night (no cars allowed). However, although it's well travelled, there's not "too many" people. The beach is a block from 5th. If you head in the other directions, everything becomes cheaper; food, liquor, hotels, etc. It never really gets too dicey, just more authentic.
