You'd be surprised how many idiot "audio engineers" there are out there. A world-renown mix engineer told me that he got snare drum tracks from a well known producer that were clipping literally 90% of the album through... that's a real joke to me. When you're working with class-act bands, the least you can do is record their tracks in a professional manner.
No, I will not name drop; it's unprofessional. I also won't respond via PM, so don't ask. I'm simply making a point here.
I recently received an album to mix that was the biggest atrocity to a "recording" that I've ever heard in my life. Nothing was done to a click. The bass used had strings older than Betty White, the rhythm guitars were single-tracked, without DIs, and were a Fender Hot Rod Devillle, SOAKED IN DAMNED REVERB FROM THE AMP CIRCUIT, dual mic'd out of fucking phase. The vocals were also edited and time stretched with huge pops in them, like there was slip editing done without crossfades.
I hate damned douchebags who tarnish the title of "audio engineer." There are tons of passionate, serious, and professional engineers out there who deserve that title for the dedication they put into this craft. People like this scumbag who overcharged this poor, uneducated band, deserve to either die, or go completely fucking deaf, so they can never destroy a band's work again.
