The new one is out now as well. I cannot fucking wait to hear it. They mix NWOBHM, Doom, and Hard Rock seemlessly. One of the true innovators but never got the recognition which they deserved as they are one of the greatest bands of all-time and extremely passionate with what they do. Their vocalist is an acquired taste I suppose (so they say), but he is one of the rare vocalist that can actually get my emotions flowing. Anyone and everyone should check them out immediately. JK would really dig them, I presume.

Totally kick-ass band. If Witchfynde played doom metal, they would sound like Pagan Altar. I love the vocals and their atmosphere of horror. Recommended for all who like dark, atmospheric, and unique metal.

Hey Pagan Altar people, can you tell me if the self-titled "Pagan Altar" on CD is rare etc? I've found it in a local store, but it's rather expensive so if it can be found for a saner price I will look elsewhere.

EDIT: Eh, seems there is no self-titled release, this is probably what is otherwise known as "Volume 1" then?

It was rare, but then recently re-released (perhaps even this year). Let me check into it...I found a site recently that was selling it.

They have a really interesting catalog. I'll probably be buying a few things from them, but I need to wait until the new year I think.

Either way, I don't know whether the Pagan Altar CD you found is an original release....whether that makes a difference in this case, I don't know, because I'm not sure whether they touched up the master recording on the re-release.
