Gustave Dore is one of my faves. We used his art for the "Seven Deadly Sins" feature, plus Agalloch used his work for "Of Stone, Wind, and Pillor". Actually, Iced Earth used his Dante Inferno piece for "Burnt Offerings" before they replaced it with some cartoon thing on the re-release....

Very dumb move, the illustrations for Inferno are way too classy to be replaced by some metal mascot. Bosch and Bruegel kick ass.
