Well, I haven't taken THAT much time to think about this, but it seems to me that there are LOTS of Opeth setlists that would make me very happy. However, this one is, I think, my most desired:
1) Bleak (it was a toss up between this, Deliverance and The Baying Of The Hounds to be the opener, but this just clinched it. I think it would just RIP through everybody at the show).
2) Ghost Of Perdition (this track has really groen on me, and I think that it would be an excellent live song).
3) Deliverance (classic, 'nuff said).
4) Closure (quietens things down for a few minutes, and then if they jam it like the do on Lamentations, then they could bring it right back up to maximum energy)
5) The Baying Of the Hounds (Full on, excellent song to get the crowd going. No idea why The Grand Conjuration was favoured as a single over this. Good as TGC is).
6) When (Even better song, so that the reeling crowd could REALLY see what masters play like)
7) Godhead's Lament or Serenity Painted Death (not a massive Still Life devotee, but these are both killer songs. Either would fit, but maybe not both).
8) The Drapery Falls.
------
9) To Rid The Disease (ace, but there to lull us into a 'false sense of security')
10) the Apostle In Triumph or Forest of October (breaking out the old-school classics!).
11) Advent
12) Demon Of the Fall (perfect closer, which is probably why they usually close with it)
---
13) A Mikael and Per solo rendition of the vocal section of Hours Of Wealth
14) Weakness (so we can worship at Mikael's feet for a couple more minutes).
I know, I know, lots of classics are missing. i would also be happy to see 'the Leper Affinity', 'Blackwater Park', 'By The Pain I See In Others', 'A Fair Judgement', 'The Moor', 'Isolation Years' and 'Harlequin Forest'. Hell, I'd be happy as long as the turned up and played for at least an hour and 20 minutes!!!
Roll on November 28th!!!!
