i've said it before, at first i thought they would be a novelty act for me, but i've been listening to all their albums for several years now and the shit just keeps getting better. :kickass:

i generally just get one album from each group i like these days, it takes a particularly special/awesome/magic group like sunn O))) for me to hunt down a second album, let alone an entire discography. :weneedathirdheadbangsmiley:

Dude, I'm a frickin' pothead and still dont get it. It's obviously not music and completely boring, especially after the first 2 minutes of the same fucking "drone."

Maybe I need eight 18" subwoofers stategically encircling me. Then I might understand, and possibly puke from the intense vibration. :D

I think my buddy and me did a better job. Drone with a vocalist ftw. First (and only, EVER!) time I did acid. :p

Maybe if one of us becomes famous I'll make copies and sell them for huge bucks :p
 
Hmm, if drone was as simple as repeating one slow, heavy, low-end-crazy riff for half an hour, it probably WOULD suck. but SOME of it has subtlety, lots of other shitz thrown in, progression, groove, cool feedback noise (LOL BORIS WTF), and stuff. I just love it, i don't know why. it's perfect background music for me when i'm doing homework, or going to sleep, or chilling out. I haven't even listened to it while stoned yet, but i will, and it will rule.

yeah, the subtleties, thats what I like about ambient/drone/soundscapes/frippertronics... etc

it isn't just repetitive noise, I enjoy how I can either relax to it, or if I desire, listen intently.. sure some may not have the desire or attention span, to each their own
 
that's what i'm talking about, nad! if someone came up to you and said "METALS ISNT MUSIC MAN ITS JUST FUCKING SCREAMING OVER RANDOM MORONS WHO CANT PLAY THEIOR INSTRUMENTS DURRRR" you'd be completely dismissive of them. Why should we be any different to your closemindedness regarding this issue? Rules and limitations only impede evolution.

paying close attention to 00 void is making that album my favorite right now, real subtle shitz going on there. creepy. awesome. love.
 
and even when Earth was at their doom/drone peak, they used riffs, wouldn't that make music?

but I guess thats kinda like how I don't think noise artists like Merzbow make real music, but others would vehemently disagree.
