Earth - Hex: Or Printing in the Infernal Method

i don't get why Doomcifer would lump Earth in with Sunn O))) really? the music/sound/whatever is different. you can't possibly deny that this mp3 is music (and it happens to be good music too)

Never really compared them two. Sunn just happened to come up in the convo and went from there. :saint:

... it isn't actually just filtered white noise all the time

but that's the beauty of it, is it not? most people will never bother listening closely enough to differentiate, so if you get lazy you can put out whatever shitz you want and with a little luck nothing will come of it :loco:

edit: damn, my "wtf drone is music" rant got ignored

I just hope all music doesn't evolve this way :p

no no, the future of drone is "post drone-core"

and then some emo vocals on top of it

music only evolves when it gets some emo tossed in

those aren't the people who will enjoy drone/noise/ambient anyway so huh

i can easily tell the difference between good and bad stuff in this genre
yeah, i'm usually too busy to take the time to just sit and listen to the music. So I need stuff thats easy to listen to.

there was a time when the flatted-5th chord/progression was not considered music (or even allowed to be played, it was called "the devil's chord" :headbang: ), and i can guarantee all of us have very tuneful albums with that on there.

in other words, get with the times people, music evolves. :loco:

i meant in the overarching sense of the comprehension of drone/noise by the general public, should they happen to come in contact with it. also i'm trying to study for something and drink a milkshake, so making sense is a few rungs down the priority ladder for now!

what do you think of Ghost Reveries, nad? it's no Deliverence, is it? :loco:
couldn't tell you, as i've not heard it. :p

i dunno, even though i love deliverance, i haven't been in an opeth mood for a long time. i downloaded ghost shitteries months ago, might give it a listen soon as the weather is HOPEFULLY getting ready to cool down soon.

edit: lolz what a terrible "sentence."

It's more..organic feeling than Deliverance. I can't get into it too much, but I will admit that it doesn't feel as rushed as the D&D did. Maybe with time, and headphones.

by rushed you mean stripped down and therefore better, right? :Spin:

nah, i recognize that most opeth fans prefer the days of stapled together sections with little to no cohesion instead of well thought out and accomplished songs. seriously, their old albums you can mix and match any riff at any place onto any track and nobody would ever notice.

long story short: morningrise sucks. :loco:

morningrise is my least favourite also. deliverance, whatever you say about it, was a rushed album that has songs that were more made-up-in-the-studio-'casue-we've-got-no-time-left-WTF than well thought out. and that clean vocal song is BOOOOOOORING.

i gotta be honest, deliverance pretty much ruined older opeth for me. i had all their albums (except orchid) prior to deliverance being released, and that's the only one i listen to all the way through now. the others i like a few select tracks and that's about it.

note: i don't hate morningrise, i'm just being playful. it's a perfectly okay album. the ending of night and silent water (whatever) is pretty freakin cool.

^ that was my favourite part of the album. that, the last 10 minutes of Black Rose Immortal, and the sweet-sounding acoustic song!

but, like, overall the album feels VERY "stapled together", to quote you :p

Still Life was the one I absoltely LOVED LOVED LOVED for a long time! something about their concept albums, it really brought out the best in them.
