Edge of Sanity

^^Good choises. And if you like Swedish Death Metal from the 90's, make sure you get Unorthodox. That album was groundbreaking in the gengre. It even got my little brother to throw out his Vanilla Ice albums and start listening to Death Metal.

P.S. I love them all... I do have a little problem liking Cryptic though. It's not bad, but it's not at all what I expected from Edge of Sanity at the time.

The Spectral Sorrows and Unorthodox stand at the very top of the second tier of Swedish death metal, and any fan of the style should own them. The rest of their material is either too generic (Nothing but Death Remains) or simply too gimmicky and populist in its leanings (everything else) to take seriously.

oh look, the "if other people like it, it must suck" attitude.

The population mostly consists of idiots, so, practically speaking, the more people who like a given person/artist/object, the more likely it is that said person/artist/object is trash. When that person/artist/object incorporates obvious gimmicks pandering to the crowd's desire for cheap novelty to sustain the illusion of individuality, its basic nature as trash is revealed for certain.

Oh totally bro, cause like, Edge of Sanity sold out their individuality to their 11 fans after Spectral Sorrows. Shit, at this rate, they might actually be considered as pop icons.

Not to mention that fans of melodic death metal are idiots. I guess you and me are both idiots for liking them.

You miss the distinction between 'popular,' which refers to the fanbase, and 'populist,' which refers to the content of the music and the intent behind it. Moreover, these things are relative. In comparison to many of their (far superior) contemporaries, Edge of Sanity were enormously popular (and thoroughly populist).

But then again, what else can you expect of someone who actually believes that pentatonic scales come from Africa?

So, basically, you reveal yourself incapable of parsing basic English terms and then hide behind pathetic insults... A new variation on the "run away when asked to back up your assertions" strategy you employed on the Philosophy forum, eh?

you mean the National Socialism Penis Comparison forum? It bored me. Your efforts to get a rise out of me may result in mildly amusing me, if that. :tickled:

Your reliance on pretentious language to assert your supposed intellectual aptitude reveals your inability to communicate your thoughts in a direct and concise manner. It also shows that you rely on vocabulary to strengthen your argument instead of actually having something worth wasting time reading. enjoy.

"Pretentious language" leads to greater concision, dumbass. Those 'big words' allow you to say in one or two words what it would otherwise take a paragraph to explain.

As for your brief foray into the Philosophy forum, come now, let there be no bullshit between us. You made some unsupported assertions, and, when asked to provide sources, never replied. In 'concise' and 'unpretentious' language, this is known as "running away."

Have I told you lately that I love you?

:tickled:
oh wait wait wait, let's not forget: NEVER listen to bands simply because you like the music. ONLY listen to bands that have done some obscure but superfluously important thing for the development of genres while simultaneously avoiding popularity! If they aren't the founding fathers of NSBM, you aren't allowed to enjoy them. In fact, if you so much as profess a mild interest, you will be set upon by fellow pseudo-intellectuals and run the risk of being cast out of the circle
