Edguy review 9/23

Bob - Next time you want your lip punched, no need to do it yourself. I am sure we could find some eager volunteers! Or I will leave you alone with my dog and her bone again and see what happens.

I'm not a dog! *cries in a corner. Emos all over the place, cuts self, writes bad poetry, etc., etc., etc...*

I did like the guitar player of Light This City's shirt. It had a werewolf on it. Werewolves are awesome.
I wonder how long before their vocallist blows her voice out.

And the singer of Into Eternity looks a bit like an ex boyfriend of mine. Scary.

I'm sure there were lots of dogs at the show, if only for Tobi.

Remember dude... I am the one here who went to the Manson / Slayer show, so I think I am the one who has witnessed the most dogs in attendance at a show........

I might be wrong, but I think in between bands, the song "Who Let The Dogs Out?" came on a few times...

 I have been goofin' on Jim's fashion sense for a while now to Rob. I think every time I have seen them (which has been about 3 or 4) he has worn the same Gorguts shirt!

Where is Rob anyhow?

Sorry to interrupt with this post and get you all back on task here.

Well, here is my review:

I enjoyed the Twelfth Gate performance. I was a little worried about the new singer, but he did a darn good job. Good find guys.

I must contradict some of the previous reviews. I really enjoyed the Echoes Into Eternity set. Their sound was nice and cruchy. I will agree that the singer's voice seemed a bit out of place with this very heavy sound. I noticed it in the first couple of songs. I obviously go used to it because I enjoyed the rest of their set.

I don't think I saw the bass player's face even once during the show. The way he held his instrument, it appeared he was giving birth to the large end of it. Very comical.

Light This City is an excellent description of one genre of metal I will never knowingly spend my money on. What a wall of noise they threw at us. Talk about rattling the fillings out of your head. I usually yell at my dog when she barks too much. I really wanted to yell at someone during this show, but, as always, I was too polite. One word... Painful.

One positive note for them... the drummer is a very nice guy. I talked with him for about 5 minutes at the merch counter. When he described their sound as Carcass, I knew I would most certainly despise it.

Into Eternity... I like many bands with squealy singers, such as the first CD from Toxik. Unfortunately, I really did not enjoy their show. It seemed like they were trying to play faster and more complicated than was necessary. Their vocalist is very confident on stage. I am not sure why though. His banter was obnoxious and the repeated mention of MTV was laughable. Perhaps some of you heard me scream out that "MTV is full of a bunch of posers" after his second time mentioning it? Their set was too noisy and lacked any resemblance of rhythm.

Edguy put on a fabulous set. Too bad they picked a bunch of songs I did not want to hear. Where was "Out of Control", "Headless Game", "Jerusalem", "Nailed to the Wheel", or even "Matrix"?

They played at least 3 or 4 more songs than Diabolik mentioned. I took a picture of the set list, but I haven't had a chance to view it yet. I will report back with that info.

Tobias mentioned that they had limited time due to some curfew issue, so why the heck did they waste our time on some silly Star Wars drum solo? and then the stinking ballad? That long winded gay joke about the drummer and the yelling contest took up too many of our precious few minutes, thus no Headless Game or Out of Control...

Anyways, the songs they did play were awesome. Everything sounded clean and tight. I only wish the light guy wasn't so lame. He didn't use enough haze. The house lights need haze to be seen! The 4 or 5 times he used it, things looked sweet... at least for 20 seconds or so..

Tobias dropped the mic when he hoisted the mic stand in the air. I was taking a pic of the guitarists at the time, so I didn't see the whole thing. Did the mic come down and smash him under his left eye? I noticed he had quite a large bump under his eye during the later parts of the show. Chime in if you saw how he got it.

Hopefully next year they will stick to their Hall of Flames CD and make us all happy. They can also squeak in Sacrifice, Matrix, and Superheroes.

No, the mic did not hit Tobi. It just landed on the floor, and he laughed and picked it up. If I had to guess, I'd say some blood vesseles popped or something under his eye. I was right against the stage, and that's what it looked like from as close as could be. He didn't have that before the show when I hugged him.

*still not a dog. Is cute. Like a puppy. So NYAR!* :p
