Both files are fairly large, but I hope you think they're worth the wait. Let me know what you think.

These albums are scheduled for a release early 2003 (no specific date set yet).

Lee

spamer! :p

oki, i'm going d/l samples and i'll post my opinion later...

Rakoth - good opener... very nice riff, but then too long keys parts... then good part with fine bass, clean vocals sometimes reminds me polish Sirrah ;) anyway, nice track... but it isn't my cup of tea

Forest Stream - much better :D pretty cool track!

***FOREST STREAM album release date confirmed

The debut album from the symphonic blackened doom Gods
Forest Stream entitled "Tears Of Mortal Solitude" will be hitting the
shops on the 27th January. The band's website was also recently
upgraded and can be found here:
http://foreststream.ultimatemetal.com/ .

This is a release we're particularly proud of. Musically it harks
back to the golden age of the early 90's - of the wave of English
doom bands, but also the unmistakable chill of the black metal
explosion in Norway. With a combination of those sounds brought
together with a modern approach, the sound is as fresh as
something quite so utterly crestfallen can possibly be. An edited
sample of the track "Mel Kor" can be found here
http://www.elitistrecords.co.uk/melkoredit.mp3

Forest Stream are working on their live set and are scheduled to
play live at PORTAE INFERNI BLACK\DEATH METAL party in
Moscow on December 28th. More dates are to be added soon.

***EPHEL DUATH New album details

The album "The Painter's Palette" is being mixed right now and
will be ready for production at the end of December. Peppe from
Temn0.un.Art is putting together the album sleeve, which will be
totally black and white throughout - the songs themselves will be
the colours and how it will finally look will be entirely down to your
own imagination!

This album will show a band genuinely pushing the boundaries of
what can be termed as metal. I've personally listened to metal for
over 20 years and I've never heard anything like what Ephel
Duath are now trying to achieve. These are exciting times, and
Ephel Duath will herald a new generation of technical brilliance
and innovation.

The CD itself will be very special for computer owners, with an
MPEG video of the track "The Embossed" (taken from the
"Rephormula" album), as well as a video report of the "making of"
The Painters Palette. Twan Sibon, known for his previous work
with In Extremo and Cannibal Corpse, will put this together along
with various photos, art, etc.

The band have also been busy rehearsing with their whole new
line-up and will be looking to play some shows around March /
April in time for the release.

As usual, the band's very stylish website is at
http://www.ephelduath.net

***RAKOTH Tiny Deaths imminent

Avant-garde Russian experimentalists Rakoth will be unleashing
their new album "Tiny Deaths" in April 2003. The band has taken
a bold new direction with this release, taking an almost cinematic
approach to their song writing. The result is something more
ambient and claustrophobic than their previous work, yet the
Rakoth stamp of quality runs through it all. This album will be one
to divide critics and fans alike. Think the Rakoth of old crossed
with a darkwave edge, and you'll not be too far away.

The title track "Tiny Deaths" is available for download from here:
http://www.elitistrecords.co.uk/tinydeaths.mp3

***WOLVERINE Album title revealed

Wolverine frontman Stefan Zell had the following to say about
their upcoming recording:

"We think it's time to announce some details about our next
release that we hope to have out sometime during spring 2003.
The title of the album will be "Cold Light Of Monday" and it will be
a conceptual album. Just like our past work it will deal with
feelings that we all, at some point in life, experience or at least are
surrounded by in one-way or another.

We've tried to make the music a bit more moody than on "The
Window Purpose" but at the same time we've also focused hard
to get the songs more groovy and alive than before. It's been a
very pleasant experience to write these songs since a lot of
experimentation has been going on and still does.

This is also our first release that will feature Thomas on bass and
that alone is something to be excited about. We are almost
finished writing all the material so hopefully we'll be able to present
the track list in only a couple of weeks.

In January we will enter the studio to record together with P-O
Larsson (who also plays the bass in a band called Vital Sign that
you might have heard of) but the drums and the bass will be
recorded in our rehearsal room, already in December. We will do
the mix in February. As soon as the album is out we don't want to
do anything else but to see you all on tour!

There will be more on that later.

All in all, we are extremely excited about this new album because
we think it presents a whole new side of us although you definitely
hear that it's an album by Wolverine. We've grown and matured a
lot, both as people and as musicians, the last couple of years. We
hope and believe that this shows on the new stuff. "

Needless to say, we're as excited about this album as they are.
Wolverine has the potential to become a world-renowned act,
and, having heard some demo tracks, "Cold Light Of Monday"
should go a long way into making this happen.

***LUNARIS Working on new material

Norwegian Gods of progressive black / death metal Lunaris are
presently writing new material for a new album that is tentatively
scheduled for a late spring recording. Producers and studios are
being considered for this as yet untitled opus. The direction so far
seems to be "more of the same, only more-so"! The band promise
to make it heavier, faster and more technical than ever. Just
altogether more aggressive through and through.

The band also plans to tour extensively in support of this second
album. The prospect of seeing Lunaris in a live situation is
something I can only say makes my mouth water!

The band's debut "...The Infinite" has been going down very well
with critics and fans alike, the majority of reviews being nothing
short of superlative. A good selection of these can be found at the
Elitist forum (http://www.ultimatemetal.com). The band's own
forum is hosted at the same location. Be sure to drop by.

***FARMAKON Debut on its way

New Elitist signings Farmakon are rehearsing like crazy as they'll
be recording their yet untitled debut album in February in their
native Finland. You'll be able to keep up to date with their online
studio diary that will be updated daily. I'll give you the link in the
next newsletter as their present site is under heavy construction at
the moment.

Farmakon signal a new breed of melodic, intelligent death metal.
The quality of their riffing and arrangements is second to none,
and we at Elitist are confident that their debut album is going to
blow a lot of more established bands out of the water. Just check
out the quality of this demo and tell us we're wrong:
http://www.elitistrecords.co.uk/farmakon.mp3

***EXCELLENT DEAL ON THE WEBSTORE!!

The Earache web store has a fantastic deal on at the moment:

£6.00 a CD in the UK. Unbelievable! Have a look at the packs on
offer here: http://66.240.178.168/store/page16.html

****************************************************

As usual I'm giving away a couple of the latest Elitist Records promo CDs. This time it's the amazing "Tears Of Mortal Solitude" from the mighty Forest Stream.

This album is the first in a trilogy, the concept being “All The sorrow, all the majesty and all the hate”. This first album, “all the sorrow” in the trilogy, showcases Forest Stream’s passion for the dark and their overwhelming sense of the epic and overblown. Musically it harks back to the golden age of the early 90’s – of the wave of English doom bands, but also the unmistakable chill of the black metal explosion in Norway. With a combination of those sounds brought together with a modern approach, the sound is as fresh as something quite so utterly crestfallen can possibly be.

You can find an MP3 from the album here: http://www.elitistrecords.co.uk/melkoredit.mp3

All you have to do to enter is send an email to forest@elitistrecords.co.uk with "Forest Stream" in the subject field. The emails I get will go into an Outlook folder and the winners will be picked at random using a random number generator.

Good luck!

Lee

Here's a taster from the upcoming album "The Painter's Palette". This is a rough mix of the track "The Passage".

I have to say that the band have exceeded my expectations here... This is something totally new for me. I'm proud and delighted that Ephel Duath are part of Elitist Records. It's this kind of creativity that I crave and adore. Hail Davide Tiso and Ephel Duath!
