Elitist rollcall

Apparantly, I am an elitist.

When a good, relatively unknown band becomes popular, I suddenly become defensive over how long I've liked them.

When I see people lumping bands like Cryptopsy into their all nu-metal favorite band lists, I become somewhat angry.

When people pose, claiming to have been fans for longer than they really have, I often argue with them.

I hate poseurs.

So, apparantly, I am elitist... someone commonly looked down upon.

Uh... well....:Smug:

Anyone else share similar sentiments?

yeah, when i find someone else who is into metal i have to proclaim how long i have been and stuff like that.

I have been called this many times. It's to the point now where I do wear it with pride. I love my old school thrash and I tend to be pretty harsh on the newer metal that doesn't seem to measure up to my ears.

(Please note:not all young metal bands don't measure up. There is some good newer metal bands around today IMO)

I'm making what I believe is a fair generalization from my first hand experience...

EDIT: Wait I get you now Dictionary definition of elitism:
"The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources"
Hence not you actually being better, the belief you are..

Amen to that! It pisses me off when that happens. I mean, I've been listening to In Flames since 1985, just imagine how I felt when they suddenly got popular!
