IM SORRY dt are one of my fav bands but nowhere close to how much i love In Flames, ill choose Come Clarity over Fiction anyday too at least its something Fresh, i've heard half the riffs on Fiction on Damage done and Character its getting old, the only great songs on it are Misery's Crown and Mundane and the magic.

Ok, both of them are really good bands, but The Jester Race does not own The Gallery. But I have to say, Clayman is much better than Haven.

I'd have to say the opposite to that. Haven's way better than Clayman. And TJR got me into this style of music, I find it way more listenable/catchier than The Gallery... which also has female clean vox (ftl). And what's everyones fascination with The Mundane and the Magic, it's probably the worst song on the album... again with the shitty female vox.

In Flames changed for money, they have reached commercial success, happy? I mean, what's the difference between Projector and Reroute To Remain? You want change? Ok, change within the same genre, but not changing from melodic death metal to alternative rock.

Reroute to Remain is Alternative Rock? they would never play In Flames on T.v/Radio here in America even now that they are more Commercial, and im saying like nyc radio, and not mtv 2 im saying mtv what all the mallcore/teeny boppers watch.

Have you even heard the last half of CC? The title track is the only Commercial Esque Song, everything else to me sounds like More upbeat Catchy Mleodic Metal, Alternative rock, you have no clue what your talking about, So In flames sound like weezer right?

Mundane and The Magic is the best song in the album...And no R2R is not alternative rock...But it's surely sth. experimental...R2R rulz by the way!!

I like newer In Flames but in no way is it better than anything up to Clayman, obviously IF are sick of being an underground band and want to start making some serious money, the only way they are going to do that is by making "jump up and down music".

Ahhh, In Flames.

I first got into them right after they had released their CLAYMAN album, although my first exposure to their work was WHORACLE, specifically the song "Jotun." That I had not previously listened to bands with death metal vocals and that, in the short span of a few weeks, I owned all the releases of this band up to CLAYMAN was a real testament to how much I loved these guys. The thing I liked most about these guys were how insanely catchy their riffs and leads were... I mean just listen to that main guitar riff in "Jotun." Utterly unbelievable.

And then REROUTE TO REMAIN came out, the first In Flames album to be released since I had become a fan. And I bought it, and I listened to it dozens of times. It was easily my least favorite thing they had released at the time. The main culprit? The songs lost all of their hooks! I struggled with that album greatly (I believe I wrote a review for it at www.metal-archives.com), and I thought there was some great stuff, but the material was wildly inconsistant, the songs maddeningly schizophrenic. I haven't listened to it in ages, so maybe I would feel differently about it today, but it was a major letdown to me at the time, and I haven't listened to any of their material since, save for the odd single here and there, which never really impressed me greatly. I remember reading an interview shortly after R2R where the band claimed the next album was going to be the heaviest yet... I don't come to In Flames for the heaviness, I come for the infectious and intricate melodies. I'd imagine that the newer fanbase is much more interested in their new, apparently heavier, direction.

So I can't really have an opinion on whether older or newer In Flames is better, because I haven't heard their last few releases, so basically you read this entire post for nothing. Sorry.

I honestly don't care what they are doing with their style. They're just one band, anyway. I like everything up to and including Clayman, and I think their new style sucks, but whatever. I do find the comment about people in the audience having blank looks on their faces when they would play an older song though. The sad part? It's kind of true, but there were still many fans who still came who are familiar with their older stuff, so it is still a poor excuse to stop playing it live.

But oh well, I'll just continue listening to their old stuff when I feel like it and discover new talented bands.

I have seen In Flames several times in concert and they went from playing with bands like Moonspell and Devil Driver to Killswitch Engage and shit like that, Moonspell isn't that great but Devil Driver kicks soo much bootay its unbeleivable!! So as you can see from who they have played with, they have altered their sound to appeal to the male 16 year old douchebag who wears girls pants and thinks its cool.

Well i've seen them 2 times in the last year and that was wit Motorhead, Sepultura and at the Unholy Alliance Chapter II, i don't get what you mean. I like both old and new stuff, and don't see the piont in everyone complaining about new stuff. If you don't like it don't listen to it, remeniss about "the good old days". Let people who like the new stuff enjoy it and stop complaining

I definitely don't think they should go back to playing the crappy boring stuff they did on Subterranean/Jester race. I mean, Come Clarity was probably the best metal album ever written, pure genius. Besides, there aren't enough bands today playing the Come Clarity style (Soilwork doesn't count because I said so).
