EMG Pickups?

Hey guys, I was looking around at some EMG pickups for my guitar, and I saw the EMG HZ-H4 which is supposed to be a passive version of the EMG 81. I know a lot of people love the EMG81, but I'm wondering if any of you have tried the passive H4 version? I'm really curious if you think this is a good alternative, or if going active is the only way to get that EMG81 rockin' sound

rockin' sound? EMG is more metal. and the passive arent that good. they work in RIGHT guitar but not those poor ones. i have a LTD250nt with those passives in, they dont sound like a 81 at all. but i guess they will work for rock.

btw, which guitar is the "victim" ?

HZ's are the low quality line of EMG's... if you're going with passive pickups you're better off with Duncans or Dimarzios

breeding_death: No "victim" guitar yet, I was just looking at pickups and wondered if the passive ones were any good.

Kenneth: Yeah I know they're lower quality but i figured they might be good passive ones anyway. Thanks for your tips though!
