Emperor- In the Nightside Eclipse

ITNE is one of the top 5 black metal albums ever composed. imo, it is emperor's best. the mix is washed-out, but i don't think it detracts from the music. the atmosphere contained is chilling, haunting and strangely beautiful. it is just plain and simple fuckin' sick. the cover of "fine day to die" is awesome. emperor, if they would reunite, will never make another ITNE.

I like IX Equalibrium the best myself, with Prometheus and ITNE coming in front of Anthems.

And I thought that they had reunited?

I dont see this album as having poor production at all and in fact its one of my favorite sounding albums of all time. I dont think production should be looked as as how clear everything is in the mix but rather how the production helps the feel of the album or set a tone or mood. In this case it most surely does. This album got me into black metal, even though i heard anthems first, the first time i heard in the nightside eclipse it sent a chill up my spine and i knew this was different from anything i had ever heard in my life and i think the production really helps the overall atmosphere of the recording. 10/10
