Beneath pale sardonic skies
Ok, I have some questions about this song. I try to translate it in Russian, you know :) Please, help, as native speakers (mostly, I think).

There are such words: "But I'm now here, I don't wish to leave". This means Duncan don't want to die, he wants to be here or something else?
I ask this just because further there are words: "As I close my eyes, the vision dies As I bid my last farewell to mankind". That means he is going to stop his life being? Something like opposite things are expressed in the same song. Explain, if you willing to help, and if you can, of course.

"I've been in tears, Hope has died in me But now I'm here. I don't wish to leave."

He may be saying that he wants to remain in his state of Hopelessness (not the world)

"A flood of tears bonding my soul with my mind
A dream of love, reality closing in behind
As I close my eyes, the vision dies
As I bid my last farewell to mankind"

Here, it seems, in his hopelessness he had a glimpse of faith and love but it could not stay with him so he decides to "leave"
Hope that makes sense, I never really thought about that before.
