So I just got a pair of these last week. They are brand new, not used or anything - they still have the plastic on them even... and they worked great all week, then bam, today I went to do some mixing, turned one on... no light or anything. It's just dead. I have tried different cables, different outlets, everything on the inside looks legit.

any ideas?

Yeah, sometimes they blow for no reason, but if it goes again, then it's probably the monitor (though try it in a totally different outlet with a different power cord, ideally the one from the other monitor) - the same thing happened to one of my roommate's BX8a Deluxes, so it happens, and from what I've heard about the quality control problems of those monitors (people having to have the volume pots at completely different positions to get equal perceived volume), it wouldn't surprised me if one just died; good thing you bought it new! :ill:

Word, yeah, like I said the fuse didn't look like it was blown but I'll try replacing it anyway. Also I did try using the power cable from the other monitor, in the same outlet and in different ones. no go, obviously.

e-mailed Event, hopefully taking it apart to check the fuse didn't void my warranty.

Isn't the fuse accesible in a compartment right above the power socket, though? And what I meant was that after replacing the fuse, you should test it with a different cable in a different outlet to see if it blows again (though it probably will)

No they really have that thing hidden away, I had to take the back panel off to get to it. There was no labels or anything that said I would void the warranty so hopefully I'll be fine with that. It just sucks that I'm going to be doing some guitar tracks tomorrow for my band and I'm only going to have one monitor.

Could be the fuse, or a blown amp. From what I've heard, the quality control on these units isn't exactly top notch. The amps were quite prone to failure, especially if pushed to high levels. Not to mention the amps are rarely matched from speaker to speaker.

So it's not the fuse. sad face.

I went all through the thing with a meter and everything seems fine, I guess I'll just have to send it back to the factory. Arggghhhhh

Well call who you bought it from first, I know when my housemate had his BX8a blow, he sent 'em back to Sweetwater (whom he'd bought 'em from) and they sent him a replacement pair
